Jeez I am so over this diet malarky, its just not my thang. I'm going to have to exercise more as I cant cut my food intake down, its not natural

Well I didnt manage to do any yoga but I did get out for a stroll, well up to Tescos and back (twice), probably a mile if I round it up :). I dont know where my day goes. Im up early (5.30 most mornings) though I do confess to starting the day with a coffee and browse around the diaries which is probably why Im sitting on my lazy !!!! for too long instead of getting out and exercising. I did however manage to do a lot of outstanding admin today as well as fixing the loo seat which has been driving me up the wall for weeks.

I did a little spreadsheet analysis for DS on his living allowance (as his father pays and wants to know what his money is going on before he gives him anymore). Lets just say I had to massage the figures a little - as his transactions ran largely along the lines of: bar, food, bar, mcds, clothes, bar, uber, bar

I spent more than I was expecting today. A few bits to take down to DS tomorrow as Im going to pick up some of his stuff and clean his shower room which I dont think has been touched since he started in September  Just over £10 on cleaning and foody bits. Then £19 in Tesco (£6 on toiletry stock up - buy 2 get one free). Treated DD to some vegan icecream - £3.25! £5 on frozen berries which I'm hoping will last me 3 weeks.

    Scores on the Doors Today:

    Spent Today/Spent This Month/Monthly Budget
    • £19.71/£230.80/£250 food
    • £0/51.16/£50 stockpot (overspend!)
    • £10.95/£50.95/£60 kids
    • £0/£25.05/£40 misc
    • £0/£53.43/£85 petrol
    • £0/16.90/£20 me
    • £0.34/£8.24 OP
    • £1.50/£40.46 electricity
    • £16.36 Daily Available Spend (down £2.83)

Will be limping along to the end of the month at this rate - £81 left in the pot and I need to get some fuel tomorrow.

I so need my sugar fix - think I might have a bath and an early night to save me from temptation

What a beautiful day again, not the thunder that I was expecting, although DD said it thundered in the night (ahh the beauty of ear plugs - shame they dont work on DHs snoring!)

I didnt really get out in it as I was driving for a few hours with a good 3 hours deep cleaning DS uni room  I packed us both lunch before I drove down so didnt have to go out and buy anything. I do love spending a couple of hours with DS, hes lovely company, in small doses :). We filled up the car with his stuff, still another car load to go so I will go down again in a fortnight for a final clean and pick up of what is left.
£10 spent on petrol today.I couldnt believe the prices, I paid £1.30/litre hence only £10 spent, I will fill up the next time I go to Asda.

Ooh I actually lost half a lb this morning which was rather nice to see though to be honest I suspect it may have been the sauna like bath I had last night :o. I had a sandwich for lunch today rather than my normal lunch and I've been hungry all afternoon. Avoiding the sugar again but obviously 90% dark chocolate doesnt count.

In my attempt to maintain my use it up challenge I put a little black treacle (ahh, maybe I havent avoided the sugar) in my porridge this morning, not a good idea, it was not pleasant. I think I may have to make some gingerbread cake and look for some other recipe ideas.

  • Treacle is amazing in ginger biscuits, ginger cake etc. I can't remember the last time I used it in something else!

I suspect youre right Beanielou. Ive heard that from a number of people. I very rarely eat it. It was only because a sandwich was much quicker to make and transport than my normal lunch and if I hadnt have made anything I would have succumbed to eating biscuits, which I am led to believe are detrimental to weight loss:eek:

Thanks TOPM - I shall see if I can make a gf vegan version for DD. I can't even remember what I bought it for but whatever it was I clearly didnt make it again as there's almost a whole pot left.

I failed to make the most of the sunshine again today, which Im a little disappointed about as im a strong believer in stopping to smell the roses. The next month is super busy for me with work and home life so I have sacrificed a few days in the sunshine to allow myself a less stressful month ahead.

I nudged up another £20 spend at the supermarket today. It was partly due to there being a large number of berries reduced price (by over a half in the YS section. The other reason being that DDs bf and school friend all stayed over yesterday and today so I had to go and buy some 'normal produce' ;) like, milk, bread, eggs and meat. I normally keep these kind of things in the freezer but had run low at the end of the month. It makes quite a difference to my monthly budget and it is something I need to look at before next month as DDs bf stays with us quite a lot, mainly because he has a car and it's also easier for me to prepare DDs food than his mum.
I also went over budget by a couple of £s in the stockpot as I found some of DDs snacks on offer so I picked up several packets.

I also organised my bday cards and wrote a list of everyone I need to buy for this year. Ive got a great little folder which has a page for each month where you write down the birthdays and it has a little pocket for you to put the cards in - all ready to send ( I found it ready to be thrown out at work the other day). So Ive filled it with the cards that I have but I still need to get another 12 for this year so Im going to do a hunt on the internet to see what I can find - card factory I understand is a good place to go. Often I buy sets, I think they are notetlet type generic cards as they work out much cheaper but I shall have a look to see what I can find. When I worked it out I realised I have 30 birthday cards to buy each year. If I assumed I spend on average £2 per card (less if I buy in packs) and have to buy stamps for around 20 thats around £70 a year just in birthday cards.:eek:

I found a small error in my spreadsheet calculations this morning so my numbers dont add up from yesterday.Luckily it was around £9 in my favour so my daily available spend has gone up a little.

Card factory is a good place for cards most of mine come from there. The Works also do 10 for a £1 handy if you send ones to people at work etc.

I am mostly GF and keep normal bread in the freezer for visitors, DGD . Most of my friends though are used to being given GF stuff.

Hope you get some sun tomorrow.

Thanks Cumbria Lass I shall take a look.

I have only got a fridge freezer but do try and cram some in if there's room, could really do with a bigger one.

  • I think I'm going to start posting in the mornings as I'm normally full of things to say in the evening but too knackered to write them down.

So, yesterday I met with XH, I didn't write it in my diary as I wanted to digest it and do some spreadsheet calculations. Basically he has agreed to help fund the short fall in the rent which takes the immediate pressure off me as June was going to be the last month I could fund from my accounts. It means that I can allow my money to stay in my fund in the hope that the markets rally and I get the return I need for future rent.

Although this takes the immediate pressure off I do need to stick to my budgeting plan for the next 16 months (which is when hopefully DD goes off to uni and I move down to Brighton) as I still have to fund some of the shortfall (need to do my calculations for exactly how much I will need to live off between now and next October) and then as I will no longer have a job I will need to fund my first six to twelve months in Brighton.

So even though I'm not in debt per se I still intend to keep my diary going to keep me on track budgeting for the next 16 months so that I won't go into debt - thereby still as my diary title states 'saving future Self from debt'

1/4 gain this morning (totm I think)
    0lb net loss :o
