Old Style Daily Wednesday 18th April 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, dry and warmer, have a load to peg out on the line, got a load line dried yesterday too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, but will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost, so we'll have chicken with mash and veg.

Yesterday work was steady but again several difficult cases, I'm doing a different job so will see how that goes, busy I expect. Working all day though.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for starting. You had a nicer day than us yesterday. Although mild it was pretty miserable looking and we had rain last night. I live in hope the mini heatwave won't pass us by!

The plasterer made a lovely job of the walls yesterday and today the installers are due to arrive! It might look a bit more like a kitchen by the end of today! I am getting used to eating meals from the mw now but not washing up in the bathroom!

To add to the chaos the 3 DGDs are here for late tea and sleepover after their classes and clubs. Goodness knows what I will feed them! A freezer rummage is called for before the kitchen men arrive, otherwise I won't get into the garage. Lunch will be the usual hm soup and quiche or sandwich.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for those who want/need them. SILVER-OLDIE you are in my thoughts and I hope you soon make a decision everyone is happy with. MRS SD I wish I had croissants and pain au raisin lined up for breakfast! Take care all xx

    Morning All

Still windy and showery, the wind was really strong yesterday evening, I was planting seeds and hanging baskets and everything kept blowing away! I now have a conservatory full of pots where they will have to stay until it's either time to put them out or the builders arrive to demolish the conservatory.

Good to hear from you tru, sounds like you've been busy.
Pleased to hear the sunny weather has got you out Holly and well done on the 'proper' meals, these together should lift your spirits.
It won't be long now TA, hang in there!

Work yesterday was really busy, hoping it is today again as the day flew by.

Happy Wednesday everyone, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone.

Am in Glasgow mid week for a change. DM has got a docs appointment this morning and then a hospital one this afternoon. The friend who is a taxi driver couldn't manage the trips today. Luckily I think my Wednesday student has dropped out.

I looked at new and used cars in Clydebank yesterday. I'm determined about buying another which isn't a colour I want! My current car is silver, not a fan, and most of the used cars of my choice of make and model are silver, black, white or brown. The salesman yesterday was trying to convince me that 'sunset copper' wasn't just brown but it's definitely brown. As this may well turn out to be my last car I want to be 100% happy with it, 90% won't do.

    HH- enjoy your day.

TA - the end is in sight for the kitchen.

Camelot - you've been so productive.

I hope everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Wednesday folks.

    Morning all,

Looks to be a cracking day here its meant to get up to early 20's today ! we wont know ourselves !

Off to work for me today but it will probably be quiet which is nice for a change.

We had fish and chips last night as a treat and I must say they were lovely, tonight I will do the bacon pasta thing.

Its a complete nightmare trying to get in and see my Dr, I always have a six to eight week wait to get an appointment, its so frustrating, so much so that I rarely go because by the time your appointment comes around your symptoms have gone anyway ! I don't go much more than once a year as its just not worth the hassle !

Rubbish and recycling have gone out this morning and I must have sweep round tonight and get everyone to put various piles of washing away.

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Good morning all,

We were out of bed a bit earlier than usual today so I have time to post. My short hair suits me better apparently but it is now the bane of my life as it takes about 20 minutes to fix in the mornings instead of a 2 minute pony tail....

Today is fat class with some friends and back to one friend's house for coffee afterwards. I am a stone lighter than I was at the start of the year so all good there. After that I need a few bits of shopping then it's "cats to the vet day" for their annual booster. By the time that's done it will be time to fetch the House Troll from school.

    Take care all of you.

    Morning everyone,

Sunshine and blue sky here, have just been outside to top up the bird feeders and it’s already warm.
Slight change of plan, my pal who I was meant to be going out with tomorrow has had to cancel, her MIL passed away a week ago and they have the vicar coming round to arrange the funeral so we have postponed until after we get back from Cornwall. I do need a few bits for my holiday, couple of t-shirts, trainer socks etc so have decided to go into BurtStEd this morning, not the same without my friend but can’t be helped.

Ice-cream in the park sounds a fab idea Holly
Thinking of you SilverOldie and pleased that you have a plan in place.

Have a good day folks x

    Morning all
Looks like the sun will be shinning today again i did 2 loads of washing and dried it all on the line yesterday so just an ironing pile to tackle now .
Dolly has been walked and had a nice play with her friend Jack she is now on neighbourhood watch
The gp appointment went well i didn't go to my practice as there is a 3 week wait but our minor injuries dept has a gp service there with bookable appointments this keeps being extended but i called at 10am opening time and got an appointment for 12.45 she thinks i have M!nière's disease so has given me medication and told me to see my own gp in a month for a referral to ENT I may call today to book that. Hopefully the tablets will stop the sickie feeling its driving me mad I can tolerate the full ear and tinitus but not that.
Silver oldie hugs for you its such a dilemma that i know will be coming my way i wish you well and i know that whatever choices are made will be for all the right reasons x
TA you are on the home straight now it will all be worth it in the end what about a tea party with the girls for dinner
Yay Cranky :j our friend has done really well at chub club i wish i had the motivation
