Hi all
I am thinking of starting a new business from home - mobile PC repair. The only problem is how to get the most "bang for my buck" as far as advertising goes.
If any of you had a problem with your PC, where would be the first place you'd look for a technician?
Can you guys do me a big favour and vote on the poll to help me out! Thanks

Other - please post whatWell my fella is one so I don't have far to look teehee. Seriously though, his mate who he used to work with is setting up his own business and he's found fliers to be effective - if they are done well. To be honest I'd always go with word of mouth so getting your name out there and talked about is the most important thing.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0

Other - please post whatI would look at Yell.co.uk.

Hello, assuming i had access to only one pc (and it's broke) i would first grab the yellow pages.
I know they are expensive to use and you have a deadline date each year to get the add in by (to cover the next book published) but for local business reach they are still the experts in advertising and the most popular.
* if i had access to another pc - then as well as the yellow pages i would google it. Just a case of using the right tool which works for us all !
Best of luck.:cool:0 -
Yellow PagesI'd definitely go to the Yellow Pages or Yell.com as a first port of call. Sounds like a great idea, good luck with your new business venture :beer:My Mind Not Only Wanders..... Sometimes I Lose It Completely.....0

have you thought of joining your local business network - many people swear by them. I think BNI is one and The Best of... - google for your local area. I believe you have to pay to become a member and they meet once a week, but someone I do a bit of work for has NEVER advertised!0

do u get a local village booklet. u can advertise in them for £10 per month, and once you do a few local people word of mouth is the best advertisement0

Ask a friendHi, Ive just been on a business planning workshop run by my local Business Link, it was free of charge and I came away with info on 100 different ways of advertising - it was stated that you should not pay for advertising to start with. Have you looked into business link?Love a charity shop bargain0

Another way to advertise (and cheap for businesses) is through the Gumtree network.
Although not covered in all UK cities yet featured business listings only cost a few pounds a week and give could coverage. Got to be worth a look.
Example here: Gumtee Birmingham
Hope this helps yer.....:beer:0
