confused.com -Any other car insurance comparison sites ??

Peculiarly I had the opposite. Got a renewal quote from my insurance company and shopped around. All quotes were more than my renewal quote, and even confused.com had my insurer down as costing at least £200 more with all the same details.
I hadn't checked prices with insurers for number of years, saved a lot of effort phoning them individually. I only want to check prices every few years, when I can be bothered & renewal prices are getting stupid.
Admittedly my new cheap insurer Budget Insurance has turned out to be a nigthmare to deal with, so maybe I'll be checking prices again this year & moving my insurance again !!

Remember to check comparison results with
Phoning your existing insurer and asking for "retentions" and asking them for their "best price" It is always easier to remain with the existing insurer as long as they give you a decent discount of course.
Also check quidco/finance for insurance offers, Prudential and Morethan and RAC are all giving about £70 cashback, Prudential might also give you free breakdown cover.
I saved 95 with Pru, and I think they have paid up now.0 -
Interesting.

It's a pity Churchill fell back into the insurance company habit of standard annual increases & decided to increase renewals by 11+% this year, then weren't interested in reducing this.
Now, when they send me the renewal notice, I go to one of the price comparison sites, get the cheapest quote from a reputable company, and phone Churchill to say I won't be renewing with them because they're too expensive.
They always put me straight through to a "cancellations department", where they ask what is the lowest I've been quoted elsewhere - and within seconds, they can match that figure, or very close to it.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
I've had my car insurance with Churchill ever since they were a two man and a dog outfit in a shed in Bromley.

I'd been with them for years, maybe 10+ years with 2 policies.
Last year I tried to get them to reduce their renewal price, they came down a bit, but not that much.
I got some other quotes, tried to get them to reduce further, they refused said they had gone down as much as they could.
I had to cancel with them as the saving was too great on 2 policies.
I was quite disappointed as I didn't particularly want to move.
The benefit is it forced me to seriously try out the comparison sites, which is loss for Chiurchill & all motor insurance companies.

Beware - the OFT have just done an investigation of comparison sites and they aren't happy about the way they provide some information and make assumptions.
Check the policy you are signing up for is what you actually asked for on the comparison site and that it meets your requirements.0 -
I can't blame it on any particular company, but since I recently renewed my car insurance and put my phone number into the forms on a couple of comparison websites the number of sales and marketing calls I've received has skyrocketed. I'd suggest either putting a false number in or making sure you tick any opt-out boxes on the forms.0

Nice work anewman. If you also work out how to send a (fairly!) mild electric shock down the line to the cold caller, please post details.0
