Some info here... http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance
I would also try checking the sites the comparison sites do not cover. One notable one is https://www.ecarinsurance.com0 -
Worth noting that Direct Line are not involved with any comparison sites so it may be worth running your details through their site.
There's little more boring than filling out the same details on insurance websites time after time is there?0 -
Just renewed 2 car policies through confused.com.
Saved £67 on 1st policy & £93 on 2nd policy (total saving £160, based on paying monthly).
It's a pity Churchill fell back into the insurance company habit of standard annual increases & decided to increase renewals by 11+% this year, then weren't interested in reducing this.
Bit silly as new policies with Churchill would have been cheaper than cheapest renewal they offered.
Churchill Policy1: renewal quote =£170, new policy quote =£148
Churchill Policy2: renewal quote =£228 then £211, new policy quote =£197

Should have read these articles first.
Slash The Cost Of Car Insurance -It Pays to Watch
http://www.itpaystowatch.co.uk/main-story/3136328846,97522use the web-based ‘screenscraping’ comparison services. With these you enter your details which are then zipped to a raft of insurers and brokers, scraping the quotes off their screens to bring you back the cheapest price. Yet no comparison site searches the whole market so you need to use multiple ones to ensure you get quotes from as many insurers as possible
The key is to do it in the correct order, that way maximising the number of quotes in the shortest time. This is done by analysing the coverage of each screenscraper.
The current order is as follows:
Moneysupermarket, Confused.com, Compare the Market, Tesco Compare, Uswitch then Go Compare;
it's also worth adding in Direct Line as its often price competitive but not included by any comparison service

just going through this car insurance quote process now, could it be any more dull?! also the quotes change dramatically from the results on the 'scrapers' to the final result once they ask a few more questions. My £93 from Post Office suddenly became £272.61 and I sure can't see why the hell that shoulda happened! oh well, onwards and upwards! guess it's all not made for blondes with short attention spans, even those of us that have brains :rotfl:
x Claire£3k back from Natwest:beer:, approx 29% saved on major debts due to Martin's tarting advice and LOTS more (inc weight loss too! ... Martin's a Marvel:j Long healthy good life, great times, and happiness :rotfl: x0 -
Peculiarly I had the opposite. Got a renewal quote from my insurance company and shopped around. All quotes were more than my renewal quote, and even confused.com had my insurer down as costing at least £200 more with all the same details.0
