Odd wifi query
Hi all
as most families do we run multiple devices from our home wifi. However in the last 3 weeks my sons phone will no longer authenticate to the 2g connection it can see.
We are on virgin media, 2g and 5g, and every other device connects, just not this one. I even tried doing a hard reset of his (android) phone but to no avail
I am really stuck, as I cant think why this one device only will not connect. if I set my phone as a host then I can piggyback onto my connection via wifi
Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions on where the issue may lie?
many thanks in advance

Have you tried turning the router off and on again?
Also does he have to use the 2.4g connection? Can't he just just the 5?“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
I have tried turning it off and back on, for some reason he only sees the 2g unless I am stood next to the router0

Don't stand next to the router, then! Maybe you're blocking the signal.
Since his phone does work with the 2.4GHz signal, the most likely issue would be the signal strength and how sensitive the phone is at detecting the signal.0 -
it sees the 2g, but just keeps throwing authentication error on it0

has anyone been in the router and managed to block the phones mac address ?0

not all phones support 5ghz wifi anyway.0

Rather obvious question but ... is he using the correct password to connect to the router? Maybe try forgetting the network and putting the password back in again.
Has someone changed the passkey?“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
I am the only one who goes on the router, and have not blocked anything. I also put the passkey in so know that's right :-)0
