The two earlier posts were quite right - it just needs to be finalised, that's all. Assuming you can either borrow the machine again, or go to your friend's house to use it, all you have to do is put the disc back in it and select the "finalise" option on the handset. It should only take a minute or so.
There are some very old drives that won't recognise the "wrong" type of disc, but I've Googled your Acer aspire 5101AWLMi and this certainly won't be one of them, it plays and records to all types of disc: +,-, DVD=RAM, and +R double layer!0 -

definately no finalise button on remote or on player its self.
also there is nothing in the instruction mannual that says anything about finalising eithermmmm free stufffffffff

I'm running out of ideas now.
Perhaps in the manual it refers to 'finalize' as a different name, such as 'close' or 'protect' or something similar.

Haven't got the foggiest idea of how that got there. Either someone added some SPAM to your thread which has been subsequently removed or somehow the post came from another thread.
Either way, nothing about which you should worry.
