Crikey Flibsey - thats news to me.....

I recently asked a friend what that plant was I'd found growing as a weed and promptly got told "Its an opium poppy". At that point - I went and looked it up - and yep....it IS where opium comes from - and poppy seeds for edible purposes are taken from it - but they said that the strength of components from any grown in Britain would be absolutely negligible.

Mind you - having said that - now wonders what country my poppy seeds originated from and if there'd be any effect from throwing a whole pack of them down one's throat at once:rotfl:

Errr...thats one experiment I dont plan on trying just in case...:rotfl:
  • If you eat Indian, Bengali or other such foods, you can try making a posto. There are tons of vegetarian and vegan versions.

  • Oh, and the process for obtaining opium doesn't involve eating seeds, so don't panic too much.

An Indian/ethnic food shop is best.

    Failing that, Waitrose.
