Poppy seeds

Options
Bought some poppy seeds today as Dh wanted me to make some bread rolls with them on.

Just wondering what else i could use them in as there is loads in the packet and is going to last me years if i only use for the odd bread rolls?

Ps am not sure that the kids are going to like them!!

  • Maybe you could add them to savoury biscuits or cheese scones. I am sure I have seen them used in a sweet cake too but can't remember what that recipe was, will have a look and report back if I find it.

My OH always brings a sweet cake back from Germany, it's lovely - it has a flat pastry/biscuit base and then it filled with a thick sort of mixture of lemon curd and poppy seeds.

These two poppy seed cake recipes also work fine:

You can also bung a cup into a sponge cake and they taste great.

    Hiya,

I haven't got a recipe that I have tried... I keep meaning to get round to it, but haven't managed yet  But I'm sure there is one in my baking book and I've never had a wrong recipe from that. If you like I can post that recipe later :)

I cant think why I bought them and cant think how to use them. I know I can use up sesame seeds I got with things like making my own tahini or halva.

But - cant think what to do with the poppy seeds.

    Any suggestions please?
