should have said, for a quick poppy seed snack, you could do some poppy toast0

I use them in bread, in muffins (lemon and poppy seed), as a topping for shortbread type biccies, on breadsticks, on bagels. If you've had them in the cupboard a while though, check they haven't gone off, they taste very bitter when they're off.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Poppy seed rolls
Not tried this particular recipe, but you could use any type of sweet rich bread recipe for the roll if you have one that you like.

Lemon & poppy seed shortbread. Yum!
200g plain flour
170g butter
60g sugar
1tbs poppy seeds
1tbs lemon juice (bottled works fine; if using fresh, adding the zest is nice too)
Sugar for sprinkling
- Cream the butter & sugar
- Stir in poppy seeds & lemon (plus zest if using)
- Add flour gradually, mixing well
- Roll out & shape into biscuits or fingers
- Sprinkle sugar over & !!!!! with fork
- Bake in a low oven - Gas 3 (170?) for 20-25 mins, until golden (not too brown or will be chewy!) & cool on rack.
They are one of the favourites in our house0 -

I love poppy seeds but had to give them up when hubby got his job. he does safety critical work for a railway and therefore has random drug tests. one poppyseed bagel could cost him his job.0
