Claiming Compensation for Food Poisoning

Has anyone any experience of claiming compensation for Food Poisoning from a Restaurant.
I was diagnosed with a specific type of food poisoning having been very ill for the last 10 days.
The symptoms fit perfectly both with time of onset and what I ate at a restaurant 48 hours prior to becoming ill.
Any advice welcome

Is there a documented link between your food poisoning and the restaurant apart your thoughts that the timing coincides?
Were any tests done at the restaurant for the cause of the poisoning?
Was it reported to the authorities and investigated?
Anybody else affected?
Without a yes to those questions then I don't rate your chances0 -
I contracted a nasty case of food poisoning whilst on holidays. I wound up in hospital for 9 days and subsequently contracted CDiff from the antibiotics used to cure the bacterial infection from the food.
Could I tell you which restaurant? No. Nobody else in our party got sick.
Did I feel I deserved compensation? Hell no. I was sick for 17 days, lost ten kilo and then because of the CDiff, I was put on sick leave from work for five weeks. It was the worst seven weeks of my life but at no time did I feel the need to want compensation.0 -
This thread should be moved to Consumer Rights board - especially as the OP has mentioned compensation.0

Wow, after all that I think if you did know who caused it you'd be perfectly reasonable to want a bit of redress!0 -
The first question is:suzainkartic wrote: »The consumer rights are there....but the question is how much can you claim in compensation?
can the OP prove that his food poisoning was actually caused by that specific restaurant?

Or the OP may like to read this article:

If they offer you a free meal, I'd probably say no.0
