Food Poisoning from pub Question??

Ok so last Saturday me and my mate his girlfriend and his kid all went out for meal at local pub in my home town (ipswich)

me and my mate both ate a chicken burger with bacon crips (frizzles) bacon mayonnaise lettuce tomato and chips on the side... I had vanilla ice cream for pudding

On Sunday morning about 11am my mate felt very sick and had the runs and was in bed for most of the day...

Monday morning about 3am I was very sick everywhere and had the runs and was in bed all day feeling very sick.... did drink loads of water.. My mate was in bed most of the day as well and had bit of toast and tomato soup he kept it down...

last night I kept waking up feeling very sick (I wasn't sick at al)..

today when I woke up I had chest pains and felt sick when I went to the loo... I had a bath and ate one pice of toast and that has stayed down so far...

my mate went to work but if is still feeling week...

Why did I get chest pains? Should I go to work tomorrow? I don't wanna risk it

Did me and my mate get food Poisoning??

Do me and my mate have any rights?? Can we complain?? Do we have to go to the council??

It could just have easily (and more likely) been a bug you shared with each other.

Food poisoning generally occurs within hours, so if you ate the meal Saturday, then it is quite a long time lapse between the meal and being sick... Probably too long for food poisoning!

I have had food poisoning twice and was vomiting within hours of eating dodgy stuff!

ok thanks for info... Might have been a bug but we had symptoms of food poisoning so that what i think is...

of course you can, but i cant see any way of you proving that the specific meal that you had days ago caused you to be sick.

Write them a letter and you may be lucky and get a bit of good old compo vouchers which you can then spend on the place you think gave you food poisoning. lovely.

Ok thanks but don't think I will go back there again.... so will give voucher to someone else if i get them

There are other things you and your mate probably did that the girlfriend and child didn't.

e.g. went to the bar area, mingled with the great unwashed. Went into the men's loos, didn't wash your hands or somebody else hadn't.

The same symptoms also present with a bug, or a tropical disease ...

There could be a multitude of causes, none of which can be ascertained with any certainty on the information given. If you feel worse call 111 for advice.

The norovirus bug is rampant at the moment, everyone seems to be going down with it. I'd suggest it's probably this rather than food poisoning.
