If you have a UK amazon prime package can you buy & watch a tv series that's on US Amazon Prime?

I suspect not, unless you've got a US billing address for your card (I've never tried it).
At the very least you'll likely need a VPN to display a US IP address to the Amazon servers.
Usually TV and film rights are sold by region, which is the reason Netflix for example offers you different content depending on which region your IP address says you're in.0 -
