same as alot of others, it was in my house when we brought it and i had it ripped out in 5 months. the dust it creats from the vents the noise it make heating up lmao!!! sumin else, because its like a giant tin box the metal expands and bangs!! like blimin fireworks goin off in ya cuboard, and as u dont have rads upstairs with it ,it was great for freezing ya nubs off. horrible thing that needed putting to sleep.
No heating upstairs? That must be a strange house.0 -
It was very common in housing estates built in the 70s early 80s.
Cheap and easy to fit in when building a new house.
The only danger you have is if the heat exchanger rots and perforates which is when you run the risk of carbon monoxide in the house. Not as safe in that respect as current boiler systems.
It is quick to heat up a house but will cool down quicker than a rad system. It will also dry out the air and shift dust so not so good for asthma sufferers.
Most people seem to block up the vents and install a rad system these days.0 -
It made my asma worse.0

We moved in yesterday - well, all the stuff to rip the place apart went yesterday - & the heating is PROBABLY becoming oil & rads, at scary quotes, so far!
