I'm in two minds about this as we had it when I was young and I remember it being really bad (pretty cool air!), but a chap I work with swears it's great, so maybe things have come on alot in that time?0

My mum has warm air heating. It was getting a bit rubbish, but the furnace was 30 years old. She got the furnace replaced and all the ducts swept out and now it's fantastic.
The best thing about it is that it will warm the whole house in 10 mins if you come back from holiday in the middle of winter.0 -
We had warm air heatng in our last house and it was great, however it was very old and needed replacing, we had the main bit replaced which is the equivalent of a new boiler for less than a grand and all the ducting clened and it was fantastic.
Much prefer it to radiators and its fab for drying washing in the winter, just drag a clothes horse in front of it for a couple of hours in a spare room.
It heats the whole house really quickly and my cat used to sit in front of one of the vents and bake.0 -
Yes, my Mum had this as well. The only thing was that when we tried to paper or paint the walls, the darned paste/paint would dry out too quickly!
However, my Mums house was always like a furnace and I don't think her bills were extortionate at the time.0 -
many thanks to all the replies greatly appreciated !!0

Hi, we have warm air heating in our house and I would never change it!! It heats the house so quickly and i find its much easier to gage than radiators, the air gets really hot, obviously depending on how hot you put the thermostat. I don't think there is any reason for it to be unsafe, we have CO2 detectors near the vents and they have never sounded and there is no risk of burning yourself on hot radiators ! Before we moved in we enquired about having it changed to central heating (before we realised how great it was) and were told by a plumber it would cost thousands.0

I personally know 2 friends who have it. Its noisy as hell in both houses. I didnt like it. I wouldnt have it in my house. It may have been a knackered system in both houses.
I found it dried out the air. Made my throat sore.Starting debt @ LBM: £8436.51 (8/5/7)

A friend of mine has recently changed from warm air heating to gas central heating and says she wouldn't go back. I'm quite sure it cost less than £4000. That was for a boiler, rads and install. She says the air quality is better, with the WA heating the air was very dry.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

We had this in our last house, now we have central heating via radiators. If I bought another house with it I would instantly replace it for radiators.
I found it noisy and although it heated the house in minutes it would quickly become too hot but as soon as you turn it off the house was cold again in the same amount of time it took to heat!
Really annoying, didnt want the temp down and to keep it on as the noise drove me mad.
This house was a realitivly new house so I know it was not because the system was old and decrepid!Any spelling mistakes are entirely on purpose to check you're paying attention0 -
same as alot of others, it was in my house when we brought it and i had it ripped out in 5 months. the dust it creats from the vents the noise it make heating up lmao!!! sumin else, because its like a giant tin box the metal expands and bangs!! like blimin fireworks goin off in ya cuboard, and as u dont have rads upstairs with it ,it was great for freezing ya nubs off. horrible thing that needed putting to sleep. You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on0
