if a seller isnt responding i would treat it as there was no strike.
sellers need to at least appease(sp) their buyers with posting dates etc0 -
Hi. Will the Royal Mail be compenstaing for lost items? I have two items posted on the 10th which have not arrived, and I now have to send replacements to one buyer as they are for her sons birthday next week, and am now out of pocket.0

compensation is just the same as any other time excepting next day delivery on SD items within the preiod it wasnt being onoured0

Our PO are sending the most recently posted items first. So, when the immense backlog has been cleared, the things posted at the beginning of the strike should get delivered.
I'm waiting for items from the beginning of October, but things I have purchased more recently have been delivered.Everyday I am asked to be a magician, in a world where magic does not exist.0 -
I'm pleased to see other people are still having problems - my main problems are with parcels posted on 8th October still not getting to destinations. Like Bluebell13 I have had to post replacements for a childs birthday party and have constant Ebay messages to respond to with updates. It's so frustrating because I don't even know what to say - we posted them and there doesn't seem to be any updates from the Royal Mail as to when they can be expected to be delivered, when we can claim and when to decide something is lost, a total nightmare. I'm going to try to send as many things as poss through couriers in the future as this has been so costly and frustrating!Started doing competitions: 08/10/2007, Won: Spiderman 3 DVD0

I've been having a nightmare too. Seems as if there's a massive backlog in Edinburgh with suggestions in the local press that letters are being delivered before parcels as it helps get the percentages of mail delivered up quicker using letters than the more cumbersome parcels. Thankfully some of the things I posted on the 4th Oct were delivered today. I was very close to offering nearly £40 back to buyers because of this.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0

its not always so simple with packages.unfortunatly van dutys have been cut as have the physical number of vans.
after delivery drivers use the vans they are then used by collections drivers so its not so flexible.
RM use hire vehicles over xmas but i dont know if they are using them now.
this is part of the issue with posties using own vehicles on duty as it means van dutys have been 'artificially' cut0 -
My seller eventually e-mailed me late last night (after threats of reporting an undelivered item and no reply to previous e-mails) to say that my item should be delivered before 1pm today! I'll be checking up shortly whether it has arrived.
To me that sounds as though he couldn't be bothered going to the PO to send it until yesterday and has now paid extra to send it on a pre 1pm next day delivery.0 -
well the only pre 1pm service is special delivery so it does sound right0

hi guys
I am so glad I found this post today. A parcel I sent 2 weeks ago has not arrived, and I'm laso expecting one from about the same time ago. I guessed there would be repercussions from the strikes, but it's good to know that the problem is widespread.
thanks! I feel a bit better, fingers crossed everything arrives as I've stupidly lost my proof of postage as well...eurgh!
