No cooling off period on car fianace

Hi all,
I don't know if this is the right place to post but here it goes.
Last Saturday I visited a used car dealership to purchase a car after a lot of looking I found one. After agreeing on a car (me and my wife) we decided to go for it. So the dealer searched for the fianace for me well we waited. To cut a long story short they got us a deal i signed a bunch of papers although I'm sure there a 2 bits of paperwork left to sign. Anyway as it was Easter weekend there told me to go as the money would not be sent by the fianace company.
So I have now left the dealership and literally 5-10 minutes down the road the dealership ring to say sorry but one of our members of staff has removed a sticker (a large one mind) of the bonnet of the car and peeled the paint off the vehicle ultimately resulting in it needing a respray. As I was driving my wife took the call and I told them id call them when I got home well that was about 1 hour 30 minutes later. I then called to say I'm not happy about it and no longer want that vehicle as they have damaged it. The response i got was very rude and dismissive basically he told me its tough ive signed for it the car is mine and the fianace company has sent the money.

Right I hope your still with me I know I'm going on a bit.

So I have now called the fianace company to let them know the story and after talking with a manager he told me the money has not been sent and I had 14 days cooling off period. So I've asked him not to send it to them he said that's fine just put it in an email to them (the fianace company) and they'll sort it. I had a reply straightaway saying they will contact the dealer.
Now I hear nothing for 4 days then Thursday the dealer calls me to say your car has been resprayed and is ready to collect. As you can imagine I'm confused at this point I told the chap I did not want the vehicle as they had damaged it and I didn't want to spend all that money on a car that has needed a paint job because of them and in a year's time it peels off and I'm left with a bill needing to be done again. Anyway he tried to stay professional although he did lose his rag a bit again saying tough it's yours we have received the money for it. Well after he knew as was adamant I did not want it he said he would have the top manager call me (which he never). I have now called the fianace company again to find out what's going on as I was told the money had not been sent and was not going to be sent. After a lot off back and fourth I was told by the lady she could not help me and her colleague would call me back. Anyway a few hours later I have my call returned to be told I have no cooling off period and why didn't I want the car. So after telling this story over once again she told me that's fine and she'll have to contact the dealership and would call me tomorrow (friday yesterday) a call I did not receive.
I am now left wondering what I should do where do I stand as I am not happy accepting that vehicle. Please any advice or help greatly appreciated.

I know I went on a bit,
Thank you.

You agreed to buy the car, subject to this "large sticker" being removed?
...and the removal damaged the paint.

If the paintwork is of even half-decent quality, then it won't just peel off in a year.
How do you know that the car's never had paint before?

The thing to remember is the finance and the car sale are two completeyly different things. You've done the right thing and cancelled the finance, in fact before it actually got anywhere so your pretty much OK as far as that is concerned. Now as far as the car is concerned stick to your guns they can't do anything.

Have you paid them anything in terms of a deposit?

I agree. Original car paint wont simply "peel off" when removing a sticker unless the paint underneath was either damaged or previously had a poor repair done.

If it was half decent quality, why did it peel off when the sticker was removed.

The OP agreed to buy a car with the sticker removed and in good condition, not after a respray.

That's certainly applicable to the paint that was already on the bonnet when the OP agreed to buy it.

Unless the sprayer is a total half-wit it'll be in better condition after the bonnet's been painted than if the sticker had never existed.

I'm intrigued as to what this huge sticker is/was, anyway?

Is this a chain dealership or franchise/stand alone?

Personally, I'd write to or email them setting out that you exercised your short term right to reject the vehicle, that their sales person/manager (whoever it is) is insisting that you must instead accept a repair and you'd like them to either confirm their employees position in writing so you can pass it over to trading standards as proof they're breaking the law by trying to restrict your statutory rights, or ensure their employees are aware of a consumers statutory rights - including the short term right to reject within the first 30 days and that they cannot force you to accept a repair or replacement.

Quite a lot of the time even the brand new car you buy has had a bit of paintwork done to rectify damage in transit.

Personally I'd not be worried, you won't be able to tell its been done if the sprayer is half decent. If anything it'll have had all the surrounding panels machine polished as well so will likely be better than it was had this not happened.
