Maplins gone into adminstration and I need to return something

  • I'm in a similar position....Last May I bought a cctv camera system from Maplin. I also paid for extra protection through Domestic and General called Protect. My one camera has been faulty for some time and I've been back a few times and they've suggested I moved the camera, tilted the camera, none of which worked. Two weeks ago they said to bring the camera in and they would check it. I did a week later and they confirmed it was faulty. However they said as they are in administration they are unable to refund or exchange in store and to contact Domestic and General. D&G have no record of me taking extra protection out and they said Maplin should be exchanging or refunding in store. I have called Maplin and they are adamant that they are unable to do anything. Where do I stand? I've paid over £400 for a system that only half works and it looks like I've paid £46.99 for protection that doesn't exist.

Did you get an email or letter from D&G shortly after purchase?

Once again, if still in warranty, contact the manufacturer.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
