My husband has a Blackberry Curve 9320 and has been receiving his aol emails on it. Until the last update.
Now the app on the phone keeps asking for validation of the account, he puts in the password and it says that the password and/or user name is incorrect. We KNOW they are both correct. He has tried removing the account and re-adding it.
Is there solution to this please?
Is there another email app to download or something like that, and would that even solve it? If so how is it done please.
I should say I am used to Android, and my husband has never added apps to this phone, so neither of us really know what we are doing on this, and he won't let me try without knowing how.
His current intention is to take it to Carphone Warehouse as they own aol, and see if they can help, but we are beginning to think that they want to get rid of aol emails with all the changes they have been making lately.
Oh, and please don't suggest a different smartphone, the idea of him having a touchscreen phone is a nightmare. I know he will have to eventually, but the longer he can wait the better
Thank you for any help you can give.

Some email services block third party clients by default, maybe that's been set on his account. If he goes into aol webmail is there an option something along the lines of 'allow IMAP'?0

He's done really well, the Curve was a terrible phone in 2012, I doubt it's improved with age.Enterprise_1701C wrote: »His current intention is to take it to Carphone Warehouse as they own aol
Do they? They are an American company and I thought they were part of Verizon these days, there is only one AOL, isn't there?Enterprise_1701C wrote: »Oh, and please don't suggest a different smartphone
You know that's the sensible option, it's why you mentioned it, seriously a Curve 9320 in 2018?====0 -
Can't find anything like allow IMAP in the settings.
As for another smartphone, the idea of him getting anywhere near a touchscreen phone is just, well, no!
I thought Carphone Warehouse bought AOL about 12 years ago. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

I doubt CPW could afford AOL, you do know AOL stands for America Online?AOL (formerly a company known as AOL Inc., originally known as America Online, and stylized as Aol.) is a web portal and online service provider based in New York. It is a brand marketed by Oath, a subsidiary of Verizon Communications.
On June 23, 2015, AOL was acquired by Verizon Communications for $4.4 billion.

I suspect that your issue is that the phone is obsolete and that their upgrade means that the device doesn't meet whatever modern security standard they are using.0

CPW bought the UK ISP side of AOL which then became TT. A lot of people in the UK tend to associate AOL with those numerous free CDs you used to get to access their dial-up internet rather than a multi-billion dollar corporation. That could be where the confusion has arisen.0 -

That would make more sense of the situation, it did seem strange that someone would think CPW could own AOL.====0
