Default status

I am looking for some advised as I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall and going round in circles.

My Partner has a default notice on his record from 2015 – it was paid in full in 2016 however it still does not show as paid, it is a zero balance on his credit report but still says 'defaulted' in the status.
My Partner has contacted virgin media numerous times and they have also confirmed that the balance is zero but the account is still live, he was advised to email the credit file amendments team, which he has done a couple of times and has asked them to remove it and to mark it as 'satisfied' but haven’t heard anything back from them.
Is there anything else he can do to get the status of the default changed?

We are currently trying to get a mortgage ( which has been declined twice now due to this default notice) for our first family home and are worried that we will loose the house of our dreams if this can't be sorted.

Our Mortgage adviser has said that this is the only thing holding us back from getting the mortgage for our dream home so I'm now desperate to get it sorted.

Any help would be much appreciated

Ask them again to mark it as satisfied, escalate to FOS if no joy. However, with a zero balance, it will make little practical difference.

The default itself doesn't get removed.

The problem here is not the default status - but your rubbish broker. He's placed 2 applications and both have been declined? Knowing that your partner has a default, he should have known which lenders will accept clients with adverse credit history and placed your application accordingly. Instead you now have 2 hard searches against you and that ultimately is probably going to be your downfall.

You won't be able to get the default removed, if anything all Virgin will do is mark the default as satisfied which again, is neither here nor there. What you need to do is find yourself a new broker, one who deals with clients with adverse credit and ask his/her opinion on your chances of placing a third application given you have 2 very recent hard searches against you.
