i am really glad i started this thread now.......on business blues....
as lets face it.... how many people do you talk to who are self employed or own their own business.... when you ask them how they are doing.... they allways say 'yes great thanks'....
or your friends people that know that youy got your own business seems to think you are 'raking it' in....lol.... i wish......
and if you tell them things are quiet..or things are a bit tight...... they avoid you like the plague.. because they think you are a loser....
its only people that are in the same boat as you ... know, and understand the ups and downs...... the highs and the lows......
it is hard... and sometimes not worth it at all... but..... still love it......Work to live= not live to work0 -
NEVER truer words spoken
Sometimes wonder though if it is all worth it....after all, the stress and sleepless nights wondering if am going to make the mortgage payment next month V's go to work, work 8 hours and go home...at the minute, I know what wins which is upsetting
Regards

this happened before with us...when my hubby had a business, the pressure on that person to not only cover the business expenses and the household expensive is huge.....
he did not tell me the extend of the debt until the lease was up on the shop.....after the shop closed we tok a loan out to cover all the debt... but with all the payemtn going out it was too much so we re-mortgaged and extended our mortgage.... just free up money every month.. to get us back on track.....
my business does not have that pressure on it.....so ....so far i have not taken a penny out of the business.....and prob.... will not for quite a few months....plus my business premises are run by the local council with easy lets.. so in other words.... i only need to give 1 months notice if i need to go.....so no.... ties as such...... so if things start going pear shaped..... i have no lease commitments to worry about.... and the business can be closed in a month.....
dont know what type of business you are in.... but with your wife a full time mum....are you claiming working/child tax credits etc....?Work to live= not live to work0 -
Thank you so much for the comments in this thread. I'm trying to start up a business and I'm having trouble getting my stock shipped in from overseas. I was quite down about it until I read that everyone else has blues too.
It's certainly a learning curve starting up a business isn't it?0 -
Tell me all about the business blues!
Me and OH run a small Joinery/Building business and cash flow is a nightmare! we pay ourselves the minimum possible to get by, so it is getting better as we are starting to have a bit in the bank, but we do a lot of work for larger businesses and some just dont pay us for 3 months! we are currently owed £12K!!! I know we will get the money eventually but it is really frustrating!
We are really busy at the moment and are having to turn work away - we really need to expand, but the costs involved in taking on permanant employees is not a risk we dare take...
OH works ridiculous hours - 7 days a week... customers get angry if we change the date to do the work if we get behind, buts its fine if they want to cancel at the last minute... customers trying to get a cheaper job by offering cash and getting offended if we say no... customers shouting at me if I say we cant help them we are too busy... customers ringing half an hour after we have returned from a two week holiday and expecting us to go and see them immediately..
... I could go on! I know exactly how you feel!0
