Duplicate orders

Hi,
I ordered some contact lenses from an online company in January. The courier lost them in transit and having spoken to the company they distributed another’s order. I have had an email today from them saying that I have either return the order or pay for the duplicate. Can someone give me an idea of where I stand.

Sorry, I'm not clear on what you've said.
Have you received anything - yours or someone else's order? If so, did you receive them twice?0 -
If you've only received one item, that's what you paid for, nothing more to pay. If you have received 2 items then you either keep them both and pay for the second one, or send the second one back (I would argue at their expense, not yours).0

Ok I get that, can I now query why it has taken them so long to chase this? It was their admin error to start with which waranted the dispatch of a duplicate order.0 -

I received the resent order (the one they dispatched when the first went missing) and eventually the original order.0 -

So you now have the option to return one order or pay for it.
You initially said the order got lost in transit, now you're claiming an admin error. Which is it?
You're free to query why it has taken so long to chase it. I expect they'll then query why you have failed to notify them you received the second order and ask what to do with it.0 -

When you emailed them the day it arrived saying ‘oh the first one you sent is here now! What shall I do?’ What did they say?0 -
So you thought they wouldn't notice and you had got two pairs for the price of one.
