O/S Daily Thursday 5th April 2018
This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, very blustery but not raining and drying up a bit under foot. Forecast says we should get some sunshine this morning, we'll see.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, HM trifle. Tonight's dinner will be either lasagne or shepherds pie, they're all home made ready in portions from the freezer, I'll serve wedges/chips/jacket potatoes with them. There's some space in the freezer, I'll need to get a good bit more out yet though.
Yesterday was another busy day, but now on days' off.
Today I'll be doing all the normal chores, town this morning to visit the bank and building society, then washing, drying and ironing.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Looks like it might be a nice day here with no rain ! fingers crossed as the ground is so water logged.
Thank you for the good wishes, I am off to work today which is going to be a hard day as we shall all be missing Lizzie, she was such a character and had the best cheeky sense of humour ever, she was a good friend and I shall genuinely miss her
Dinner tonight will be something and chips I will go and look in the freezer after this, or I might do bacon egg chips and beans which is nice and easy.
Right I had better get ready, have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
RR - to hear about your friend and client Lizzie. The day will be difficult all round.
The morning is bright here, the ground is still very soggy after weeks of rain. I’m hoping for a dry spell.
I’m contemplating chucking out the awful brownies I made yesterday, so much for three ingredient baking! Such a waste.
I’ll be heading down to DM’s later this morning, looks like the drive should be enjoyable in the sunshine.
Happy Thursday to everyone.0 -
Morning All
Don't hold your breath Gers, it's raining here. I stripped the bed ready to put it out for a blow in the sunshine but it may end up inside. This rain and snow has been going on for weeks now and I'm a bit fed up!
I'm going to get stuck into the housework this morning as I have a 5 year old to look after tomorrow and visitors at the weekend so need to get it all done.
Costco this afternoon with a couple of friends/neighbours, my toilet roll stash is running low!
Hope you all have a happy Thursday, take care. XX0 -
Spoke to soon...the weather has suddenly changed and I can see a band of rain and mist approaching from across the sea. :A0

The weather is still distinctly chilly but no rain is forecast ski will probably do some washing today. I have an appointment for my nails and then i need to get a passport photo done so i will have to pop into town for that
Chicken Curry for dinner
Ruby hope today goes ok for you and lots of fun memories are shared.
Hugs to all who need them and have a great day whatever you are up to x0 -
Morning. There's a yellow thing in the sky - they're calling it "the Sun",
The weather yesterday was terrible (heavy rain turned to snow, absolutely awful. The snow didn't lie though, it was too wet.
We've got Dgd staying, she's pretty lively, so that by the time she goes home this afternoon we will just sink into our chairs. Not for too long though as we're going out for a meal this evening with friends so that should be nice.
I'll catch up on yesterday's thread later. Hope everyone is all right.
Take care folks

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Wall to wall blue sky and sun this morning and supposed to last all day. We shall see!
Suffering in silence this morning after a very enjoyable carvery and too much wine evening last night. Good food, good company and good wine, what more could I ask for.
A shame I STILL have the wallpaper to strip off the kitchen. Mr TA not been good at all this week and been resorting to more Oramorph than usual. Meaning the one small bottle they allow him has gone down drastically. Therefore I had to traipse down to the surgery, cap in hand, to request more. When I got back I couldn't be arrised starting. So that job still awaits me and must be tackled today.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all wanting/needing them. Hope HOLLY gets discharged and is back posting soon. RR it will be a sad day for you. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good Morning chums had a great day in London yesterday even though it was packed with tourists
still good for the economy I guess. We had lunch in Cafe Concerto in Knightsbridge, my DDs treat and it was pretty amazing and hideously expensive bless her. Then we went for a wander around Harrods and I spent the last of my Christmas cash on some fabulous Jo Malone perfume, in fact bought two bottles so I shall smell rich for a little while at least :)The assistant also gave us both some free sample phials which are rather nice.
Then as it was getting a bit busy we went to Oxford Street and I managed to get some nice make-up for DDs ma-in-law for her birthday next week in Boots of all places and we got lots of freebies there as well from the assistant and came out loaded with samples and a couple of vouchers for free lipsticks as well:) we were on a roll
Onwards to M&S where I got a top and some trousers that I had to order but they are being delivered to my local M&S today so I will pick them up after lunch.
Finished up in Selfridges having coffee and cake late afternoon, very nice and got back to Victoria and managed to get a seat on the train home .bags full of nice things and lots of freebie stuff as wellA smashing day out which we do annually in April, its part of my February birthday present.
This morning I have to drive to Bluewater to have several words with JL about why I sometimes can pay my bill online and other times I can't ,even though I use the same blooming debit card I think their sytem has gremlins in it Trying to phone them is a nightmare as well, so strong complaints will be made to go along with the four recent online complaints that have not been answered I am in full grumpy old lady mode today:):) I have been a customer of theirs for almost 50 years so they will be getting a rocket today
:):)
(I'm really quite a gentle old soul really, but I hate inefficiency)
Hope evryone is having a nice day and the sun is shining down on you where ever you are (it is in Kent at the moment )
Cheers chums

Morning everyone,
Another busy start to my day with an 8.30am meeting, so a later check-in than usual. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss money, a promotion in fact. But it comes with the caveat that I need to bring in £100k of business in the next 4 weeks (very hard to do).
It!!!8217;s my cousins wife!!!8217;s birthday today and we!!!8217;re going to an Avocado themed restaurant for dinner. Quite a quirky place and it!!!8217;s not too expensive, so it!!!8217;ll be interesting to try.
Instead of watching the football last night, I helped my friend paint part of his new house, which I think quite therapeutic.
Right, must dash, I!!!8217;ve a target to smash.0 -
Morning lovelies
Well its a gorgeous day here perfect blue sky and sunny. After yesterdays constant downpour its good to see the sun. My poor gardener came and managed the first cut of the season which was impressive. No shorts though nanny so slightly disappointing but I'm holding out for next time
Holly is all ready to come home today and understandably nervous and excited about getting back to normal. I have reassured her that everyone on here is preparing to go into full fuss mode :rotfl:
Im off for my pre-op today which I had already done a few weeks ago but now they have decided they need to do it again as it was too long ago.... that was 4 hrs of my life I wont get back. So this afternoon is pretty much written off but I will get on with my book:)
Ive a few bits in the fridge that need eating up so Ill be having those tonight and probably a boiled egg for lunch. No doubt a WRVS teacake will have to be eaten ...to support the cause you understand
Right best crack on and dont forget suffocating hugs at the ready for our returning Holly0
