I have an EE contract due to expire at the end of June, I have 4gb date, UL texts and minutes@ 40.99 a month
I want to keep my phone number but reduce my monthly costs what is a good option, is it pay as you go and if so what’s the best price for similar usage. I can reduce the mins as vary rarely phone anyone.

You should be able to get your current allowance for around £10 a month (or just under), the really good deals are offered after you tell them you're leaving and ask for your PAC to do so.

    Dial 150 opt 1 - 4 - 2 iirc.

I pay £8.99 with EE for unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 4 gb of data.
I googled another company doing a similar deal, rang EE for a PAC code and they matched it. took a 5 minute phone call, very simple.
The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.

I actually managed to get it for £8, but as there's a small amount of luck at the exact price offered when a person calls so I thought it safer to just say £10 or under. ;)

Shows as £17 with £9 of loyalty discount in MyEE.

A current similar deal that the OP could quote is 3.5GB for £8.00 from PlusNet via uSwitch

  • I went SIM only as I didn't want to change phone of number. I don't use mobile much, only for texts and some calls. I got a SIM only deal for £4 per month - unlimited texts and calls plus 2GB. This is with EE.
Shows on bill as £11, but with loyalty discount of £7.

Keep an eye on deals on other networks, so you are well informed to haggle when they ask why you want to leave

Find the best deal you can anywhere else for the amount of data you want, and call EE to leave, and bash the retentions team over the head with your deal, and see if they can beat it.
I did this a couple of months ago and got 6GB per month for £12, just about matching a 3 deal. If you're actually prepared to leave it makes the negotiating much easier, and the pressure's on them!

The downside of these offers is that when you get the allowed inflation increase it will be on the £17 eg £17 + 4.1% = £17.69 - £9 = £8.69, actually an 8.6% increase. MrsM has a £4.99 discounted from £14.99 contract so her increase this year is to £5.59, a 12% increase.
