I thought you could not sell items using F&F for payment?

I've never come across that one before and I've heard some really strange stories about PayPal.

Friends and family payments are meant for private payments between...............friends and family , but there is no way PayPal can stop the vast amount of sales that take place every day using F and F. Obviously there will still be buyers who will risk using f and f , although generally buyers are getting more savvy now and won't do it.

I didn!!!8217;t know you could dispute a f&f PayPal payment.

It's a different type of dispute - not the usual inr/snad. It's a chargeback dispute. What is worse is that if you get a dispute on F&F you can end up worse off.

There was a thread on here in recent weeks where someone had a dispute for F&F, I will try and find it.

Op, if the buyer has been able to open a normal (inr/snad) case, it should close without detriment to you. To be absolutely certain, you should give Paypal a ring and explain it was a gift payment and not for goods/services. They should close the case but as I explained above, you may still find the buyer able to dispute the charge - although most card companies won't help when a payment has gone via Paypal.
