That's not too bad a failure rate out of 700.000000 users.

However, it's still much more than any previous version of Windows...

..and even more worrying is the fact that MS "fixes" for the bad updates don't often work. I've still got some machines that haven't recovered from the servicing stack debacle in Feb even though MS released further kb patches to resolve the issue..

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

No, my external hard drive I use to back up onto is at home and I am working away until Sunday.
I have got a memory stick but I'm having to use that for something else.
There hasn't been a lot of changes to my saved files since I did the last back up really, any photos I've taken are still in my phone.

Even if I do a back up onto my internal hard drive, if I had lost all my folders and files which I thought I had, I couldn't have restored back as it looked as if all the folders were empty.
I am going to look at getting another external hard drive and also, next time I go away, I am going to back up some of the stuff I need onto a memory stick and take that with me.

I don't know how big your files are but, if I am stuck without an external hard drive for some reason I simply email whatever I need to back up to myself.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

If you go down the route of a memory stick for use away from home, FYI I use a Kingston secure data traveler locker memory stick - this is used on win 7 pro machines.
