I must admit I read a lot of diaries but very rarely post on them.

I'm quite shy so I found it difficult at first but generally people on DFW are lovely and welcoming. I try to say hello to new diaries and to anyone who comments on mine.
Oh my goodness are you in Leicester? Small world! Sainsbury's at fosse park is free and their for court is much bigger and less stressful. I've meant to do it a few times at asda but there's nowhere to pull up and wait if it's busy and then I'm in people's way so j just leave :rotfl:

I'm not in the city but head in fairly regularly as the saving on fuel at Asda pays for the journey. Thanks, I'll try MrS next time I am over.

ETA - You don't have to read it all - mine for example witters about cooking, cats, gardening and I never get round to doing the thing I am supposed to be doing. You don't have to suffer through however many pages it is, just jump in and say hello or ask a question and people will welcome you.

    Evening all.

Bit of a spendy 24 hours here :undecided, it was my little boys last day in the baby room at nursery yesterday so i got his key workers a little bunch of daffodils each and a card (annoyingly they'd both gone home by the time i got to pick him up so daffs will probably have past their best when they get them!). I was also given a list of things he'll need to have in the tikes room (kind of them). List included a pair of slippers so got them in asda too. spend was a tenner and then used my £3.15 price guarantee voucher so it came to £6.90 (5p carrier bag! not very MSE i know)

Partner wasn't at work until 3pm today so we took LB swimming this morning. He didn't enjoy it as much as usual, i think it was a bit chilly so we didn't stay long and then got McDonalds on the way home (facepalm). Total spend today £8,.20 for swimming and £16 Maccys.

So this evening I'm watching qmee like a hawk pouncing on surveys

Hope everyone enjoyed the sun today. How nice is it to finally see a bit of spring!?

    Hi Brookside,

You're doing well with your overpayments to the debt. :T

Food is always our biggest fail when it comes to budgeting, we're busy/lazy/tired/easily tempted and this turns into takeaways/junk food. :o Trying our best to cook more at home, especially for our DS (10 months) as want him to eat well.

As redo says reading & commenting on other diaries helps you get to know other regulars around DFW. I've been hanging around here for years & still don't have many people commenting on my diary. :rotfl: Don't take it personally, it doesn't mean people aren't reading or not interested. I generally comment on a diary when something resonates with me or I want to add my tuppence worth. :)
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.

I've been making a conscious effort to use up what we have already but nobody likes a tired hungry toddler so maccys won us over today! ha! I've been buying and freezing a lot more meat recently, I tend to cook up 1kg of mince a week into bolognese and then freeze it in portions because it's so easy to just chuck in the microwave when the temptation of a takeaway strikes!

I think I've read some of your diary actually, I'll check it out again now. I guess I just never feel like I have anything useful to say really!
  • 1 qmee survey done - 50p. Withdrawn a fiver to PayPal. I didn't know there were so many questions about mattresses. Yawn fest!

Hi Brookside (thought I'd pop in and say Hi, also from Leicester myself - it's strange seeing someone write in a diary the words 'Fosse Park' and know where you mean!!)

If you have time and are looking for surveys, prolific academic have a good range of surveys. Cash out is £5. Some surveys are worth 30p, 40p and 70p and can take between 2-5 minutes, some surveys are £1+ and can take between 5-20 minutes.

Also, if you ever buy stuff online you should consider going through topcashback.

Sorry if you go/use all of the above - it may not be helpful!

    Hi Jem,

I've heard of prolific academic but I'd heard they're quite selective over members. I'll take a look because that sounds better than 25 mins of matress questions for 50p! Thanks

I tend to use topcashback for things like car insurance etc, but most of my online shopping is though Amazon.

    Thanks!

  • He'll be 2 on the 8th June. How about yours?

The 29th June so not that far away from your little ones.

I like PA too. I joined last year around this time and have had almost £400 from them since.

I also do onepoll, yougov, mintvine, panelbasenet, inboxounds, swagbucks and opinion outpost although some of these have a higher payout threshold. I think it's just a case of trying them all out to see what suits you.

I have subscribed to your diary as we have a similar level of debt. When are you hoping to be debt free by?

Another vote for PA, I got a £7 survey a few weeks ago. :j Onep0ll is good as surveys are really quick, most are 10-15p but it adds up quickly as long as you remember to check a couple of times a day, I do it on my phone too.

As for am@zon shopping, have you heard of Kidstart? You can get cashback for am@zon there, wish I'd known about it when I was buying loads of baby stuff when I was pregnant! I'm pretty sure I saw it on someone's diary around here but can't remember whose. :o Baby brain. :rotfl: Anyway, I've only recently started using it but it has tracked my purchases so far. :)
