Notice that this facility would stop, later this month, was given way back, before Christmas.

Which is why my post contains the three :rotfl:

What a sad world we live in when people don't understand a rotfl or three ;)

Do bear in mind thought that once your account is open (and you've qualified for any switching incentive), many of these accounts require ACTIVE DD's to continue to meet their T's and C's to receive interest on the account etc, so you may need to keep them running to maximise the benefits.

Are we saying that new direct debits on new accounts are not permitted, but exisiting ones will continue?

    Yes, I know :rotfl:

Except they can, and in desperation could (possibly) be used for some switches such as the M&S one. You'd need to be very quick about it though.

There's certainly a greater chance of getting a Tesco DD set up and running by the 22nd than there is getting a PO Savings one working in that timescale :rotfl::rotfl:

No, new direct debits can be set up until 21st April. On 22nd April ALL DD's will be cancelled (or at least that's what Tesco say will happen on the 22nd, some of us think the mandate may linger on).

However, it follows that since it takes time to get the DD set up and make the first transaction, the theoretical deadline for setting DD's up is some time before the 21st. Around now.

I am now waiting for the complaints about Tesco starting to roll in, in a month or two. "They never told me that they would stop DDs". "Can they do that?" "How much compensation should I ask for". Etc etc

Average set up of DD is 10 working days, Tesco will tell you the first available date you can use for the DD pull in, but agree it around now, if to get it running for 21st.

That is what I like to hear....compensation.

I am going to wait and see what is going to happen with the Tesco dds. I reckon it will a a bit of a co*k up. I will then complain and ask for compensation.
