"Dummy" Direct Debits

I see some bank accounts are now stipulating that a certain number of direct debits must be included in the switch process in order to qualify for their incentive payments (e.g. M&S). Does anyone know if you can meet this condition using "dummy" direct debits? By that I mean low value charity donations, lottery payments etc. (which, presumably, you can cancel once the switch is complete) rather than things like utility bills.

As ever, check the Ts & Cs of any specific offer you have in mind but yes, a direct debit is a direct debit, regardless of destination, value or duration....0

Tesco savings accounts can be funded by direct debits :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

That reminds me of the Santander account that could also be funded using a direct debit.
Someone from Santander tried to tell me it didn't exist. I gave up telling them it did.0 -
Notice that this facility would stop, later this month, was given way back, before Christmas.surreysaver wrote: »Tesco savings accounts can be funded by direct debits :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Not unless you set them up months ago. I think the facility to make new DDs was withdrawn?
I'm not sure about that. I opened a new account recently (for the interest not the DD's) and ended up with half a rainforest of DD mandates coming through the post - one for each linked account."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
On the contrary, the Ts & Cs for the Internet Saver product still practically encourage new DDs to be set up right up to the wire:Not unless you set them up months ago. I think the facility to make new DDs was withdrawn?Prior to 22 April 2018 regular or one off payments can be made by setting up a Direct Debit within Online Banking. You'll need your Tesco Bank security details to do this.
From 22 April 2018 you'll be unable to set up new, regular or one off Direct Debit payments. All existing Direct Debits set up on your Account will be cancelled.0 -
