Becoming debt free is HARD WORK

We're halfway through the month now. Just do your best to break even (depending on how awful the account looks) and then start again in May. I'm having months where I start with good intentions plotting how much I will save and it never works out exactly as planned , just take a deep breath and start again the next month .0

Just waving hello. the key to success for me with motivation is enough of debt paydown, whilst having a life - so setting up a guilty splurge pot in YNAB and budgeting some funds into it might be your answer? Why don't you take it a bit easier in your goal for your DFD and then you can hopefully meet your budget better, which is way more motivating each month than missing by a mile?
What also helped us was having a separate account for all household bills (and future savings / EF etc), and then a separate account for groceries. and we each have a treat budget, so I run 2 YNAB budgets, and the main one I spend out of is groceries, so I save other bits and bobs in the other one. Just helps as I am not looking at other pots that i can steal out of!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for your reply. I did set up a current account to put grocery and fuel money in but have become a bit unstuck with accessing it- so many passwords and i keep losing the bits of paper! I also tried setting up a credit card to do it with but meant I ended up getting more into debt because I forgot to transfer the money I'd spent to clear the bill. What a pickle! Feel like I'm drowning but I'll pick it up and start aginNSD Jan 5/10

Lovely day in the sun today but rain is coming. BOOHOO
Account looks vile but I've sorted out the Barclays account today so we will now have a separate account for groceries and petrol. Aiming to put about 600 in but I'm not sure how to do it as I'd need the funds upfront IYSWIM?NSD Jan 5/10
