Mobile Phone Additional Charges

Hi

I pay for my son's and my own mobile phone. Just been checking the statements as the bills have been coming in higher than expected. The last two have been double what they should be. He's got charges from 'other companies - UK' on the bill.

Every Monday he's charged £3.45. There's also VAT on top.

Called EE and they say it's a company called motormate. I can't find them online. He seems to have no benefit of the item - there's no email, no phone call, no text. He doesn't seem to have called or initiated it in any way - at least not that I can find on his phone or browser history.

He's been advised to text STOP to a number. He will be charged for that.

Has this happened to anyone else and can you get your money back?

MotorMate is a driving app. Possibly to get lower insurance premiums?

    That might be the app.

Provided by Confused.com, its as Steviebabies says it gives you money off your insurance, it tells you how you rate compared to an RoSPA expert driver.

Is it something he is aware he would be charged for ?
  • Hi

Thank you both. He's not really into things like that yet. He's not even interested in learning to drive.

Had a look in his history and doesn't seem to be anything there. Doesn't look like he's got an account and he's certainly not received anything like an email. Would have thought he would have had to register somewhere.

Hopefully it's cancelled now so I'll keep a closer eye on it.
