Good Morning from a very blustery Yorkshire. The clocks have changed and we have made it through the lockdown winter.
Work has been horrendous this week, I have been working 12 hour days. Working from home just makes this more intense, literally sitting in the study at my surface pro from 7 til 7. Luckily Mr Mee has kept bringing me cups of tea. It seems to me that the technology is also driving more multi tasking. At one point I was in a Teams meeting and also answering urgent queries from four separate people in the Teams messaging facility. However it is all good because at least I can now think to myself that it isn't for much longer. I handed my form in on Monday applying for retirement, and my boss has finally accepted it. Although he did ask if I had fully thought through the financial implications.
We are just discussing the dates now, I don't want to leave my team in the lurch so I am just waiting to see the recruitment timelines for my successor. In my head it shouldn't take more than 4 months to recruit someone, so I am thinking that I will finish at end July, but actually last day of service end August. Gives me another bank holiday
I've not quite got to the yippee moment yet, but I can definitely feel a weight lifting off my shoulders.
We are going to see a friend today who I haven't seen for a year. We are collecting an item of furniture for DD and I am looking forward to having a good doorstep catch up.
I am planning a barbecue on Tuesday with the kids. We are forecast to have really good weather on Tuesday, but only for one day, so I intend to make the most of it.
Nothing much to report on the MSE front unless ordering more than 6 bottles of wine from T€sco to get 25% off counts
Have a great Sunday and enjoy the good weather when it arrives x5 -
Well done @Busy_Mee - you won't regret it. Your boss clearly has not done the maths himself or not done any planning! Cheeky lump of turf! - Ooh, it is a year since I bought wine from Tosco with 25% off in last lockdown... off to check

Thanks Suffolklass and GreenT.
I think the issue with boss is that he just hasn't given it any thought. Even though he is only two years younger than me he has four children who are still at school. So it simply isn't an option
Tbh hit really shocks me that lots of people in a similar age group to me haven't given it much thought.2 -

Happy Easter. Got to love a bank holiday Friday.I can't believe it is now April, even though this has probably been the most monotonous period in our lives, the months are speeding by.Pay day was Wednesday and so here is the March update:
Repayment Mortgage £35,836.19
Interest Only Mortgage. £151,500.00
Total. £187,336.19
Repaid in March £2454.07
Ring Fenced Savings £215,000.00
Savings offset mortgage to: £ 27,663. (Forever fund)
Odds and Sods £28.47
Chipped off IO mortgage. £500.00
Total odds and sods. £528.47
I am very happy to report we did manage to chip an additional £500 off the interest only mortgage in
March, with a combination of funds from the O&S account and £100 robbed from the annual bills account
I would like to be able to find an additional £500 this month to bring the IO mortgage down to lovely neat £150 k. I can't see it though unless there is an unexpected windfall or some extreme account jiggerypokery.
I am busy baking for the Easter weekend. I have made my foolproof Chocolate fudge cake, onto which I will throw lots of mini eggs and other chocolate goodies. I am also having a go at proper bread (as opposed to the sour dough I made last year). My first batch of rolls are proving...
We are also making secret plans for next weekend. Sssh it involves DD and a ring....all very hush hush and exciting.Hope you have a great Easter 🐣4 -
