I hate seeing those adverts for people with adverse history/credit rating , those loans that claim to be the answer to your prayers when the cooker breaks or the dog needs an operation but are charging 1234%
They really should not be able to exploit already financially vulnerable people0 -

Morning!
We've had none of the awful storms here in South Wales - yet! It's so warm and stuffy though feels like we need one!
School hols are half way through, we've not done a lot as I've been suffering with a really bad back. Called my gp for an appointment and they have a physiotherapist there so I'm seeing them today! I'm sure it's just sciatica, but demons in my head etc etc. Anyway, overthinking is my middle name but I'm not going to worry over what I don't know!
Musclefood order arrived yesterday so I've got an abundance of meat! Today's meal plan for main meal is spicy chicken, rice and salad! I've been useless on weight Watchers and I'm wasting money if I'm not going to stick to it, so I've given myself a talking to and need to pull it together!!
I also need to go to Cardiff this week, I need to get a few things for my daughter's birthdays, they're 18 and 21 so if anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful, I've budgeted for them but just don't know what to get!
Littlewoods statement is in and will be paid today, the balance is currently £204, it's on interest free for 2 years and will be paid well within that time, I'm currently paying £40 as minimum is £36. Getting rid of that and the Next bill will be a huge milestone!!!
Bank balance checked and it's all looking as it should!
Right, im going to get up and enjoy a cuppa in peace! Have a good day everyone!!0 -
I am reading in and out too
. Posting and having a record of how you are bringing the debt down is useful to look back on when you need motivation. You still have quite a lot of debt so keeping your diary going while you are plugging away at it will keep you focused as it is so easy to fall off the debtbusting wagon when you don't have anybody or anything to hold you to account.
Firstly, well done on reducing the next card by so much and the plan to move on to the next CC and repay within the 0% period is brill.
One thing I noticed was you mentioning your 18 year old daughter mentioned shares for her 18th birthday. Now presumably it is not going to be a massive amount but individual shares in just one company are the riskiest way of investing. Most people invest in funds to start with as they are more diverse and therefore less volatile. Why the attraction in investing? That is unusual in one so young but educating herself about it at this age would be a great thing to do. I wish I had learnt more about it at 18 rather than waiting until my 50s.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Incidentally if you want to go for a keepsake for your girls I would suggest jewellery. We got earrings and a necklace for one of our girls for their 18th and the same for the other at 21. We got a vase for one of them at 21 which has pride of place in her house. Another idea is one of those large photo frames with individual photos of them growing up. My eldest did a scrapbook for my youngest s 18th with photos of her since a baby.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Hi, I've no idea where the interest in shares came from! We've talked about it and it won't be something we'll be doing for her birthday this year as like you say, it's a risk and also something that needs research beforehand. If she still feels the same in a year or so then we can look into it properly.
Our debt is high, but I do feel focused to bringing it down, this is an expensive year for us but we're managing well and I feel that if we can make inroads into the debt through this time, we'll certainly manage later on! I will keep posting though just for my own motivation!0
