Euros- bulk, or installments?

Options
Was thinking today- in a similar way to pound-cost-averaging in investing, is there something to be said for having a similar approach to buying Euros for travel?

I've no idea what'll happen to the exchange rate before I travel (mid May) so I thought buying in a few installments might help to even out any fluctuations.

Thoughts? Or am I way off the mark with this...

Sounds sensible, but i. funds tied up in Euro will not earn interest, so that is a cost; ii. the cost of buying cash here is so much greater than that of obtaining Euros from cash machines once you are abroad that you are likely to lose out by doing anything else.

The idea of anybody seeking a few hundred euros turning themselves into a short term currency dealer seems a bit bonkers.

Focus on minimising transaction costs overseas.

Starling Bank and Halifax Clarity Credit Card are two ways to do this.
