Sudden Jump in water bill

Hi there folks,

I live in a 2 bed flat, which due to some odd water pipework, means that there are no water meters in the block (apparently it was cross billing flats).

I'm on a 2 bed assessed tariff, which has suddenly shot up from £384.64/year to £499.24. (Water in £198.30 to £208.20, Water out £186.34 to £291.04) Rang the company and got given some spiel which wasn't helpful.

Is there anything I can do about this?

As part of the new combined bill process (I have a different company for water in and out), they've noticed they've been charging incorrectly and this is the 'correct' price. The big jump in price comes from Southern Water, who do the water out - an increase of £110/year! South East Water do the water in, and are now charging an extra 5%. However SE Water don't display their assessed charges online, so something seems fishy to me!

So annoyed you can't shop around for water!
