Can / should I upgrade with CPW?

Hi all,

I'm currently coming to the end of my existing 24 month contract with carphone warehouse / Vodafone so I'm starting to shop around for upgrades.

I've found a heck of a deal on the Pixel 2 from mobiles.co.uk (£20 upfront, £30 a month, 16GB data) but it looks like its for new contracts only. CPW have a similar deal but it would be mean changing from Vodafone to O2.

Vodafone say I can swap to a sim only plan on April 6th and I'm actually out of my contract in May.

I've got a few questions.
  1. If I switch to mobiles.co.uk I'm assuming that I'll be on a new contract? if so what would I have to pay to exit my existing one?
  2. Would swapping to O2 instead reduce this fee?
  3. is it much better value just to wait until May and get out of my contract properly?
  4. Would going to Vodafone direct yield better results? If so I'm assuming I would have to wait until next week to do so?

    1. Yes. The full minimum term remaining.

    2. Why would it??? You're not "swapping" - you're taking out a new contract with a different network.

    3. That depends on whether the deal is the same in May - though you won't be "out of contract then", just at the end of the minimum term.
    4. Who knows. Why don't you phone them and ask??

Bear in mind Mobiles.co IS CPW.
