O/S Daily Good Friday 30th March 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Hoping the news re Holly stays positive x

Now light, slight frost and looks chilly.

DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas, I'll be heading to the shower shortly, then brekkie. Both boys having a lie-in, don't expect to see them anytime soon.

Dinner last night was a small joint of gammon, that I baked in the oven, then sliced, served it hot with fried eggs, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg and HM coleslaw, cake for dessert. Fresh pork steaks in the fridge for tonight's dinner, will cook mini roast potatoes with them, veg and gravy. The potatoes were a big bag of mini roast potatoes (fresh small roasting potatoes) for bargain price of 19p not yellow stickered either so got 2 bags and carrots were the same so got a bag of them too. This was a small shop at L**l. I'll be going first thing tomorrow morning to get the rest of the shop where I normally go, it'll be early 8am otherwise it's packed.

Yesterday I wasn't overly productive but did get stuff done, so several items marked off my "to do" list, still more to go, but happy with what I got done.

DH and myself are going to have a ride out to an antiques event today, so that will be a change.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning nmlc and those who will be here later.

I am away from the office until Wednesday now although I do have some paperwork to do, reports to write etc. Doing those in peace rather than in the hurly burly of a massive open plan office will be good. Before we moved to the open plan place, I had my own little office so I am probably rather spoilt.

It doesn't look particularly nice outside but at least it isn't freezing or snowing

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. A bit miserable looking out there but the rain has stopped - for now. The snow forecast for Monday has now been upped to heavy snow! The 2 youngest DGDs are at Brownie camp this w/e so hope DD or ex can get back for them! I am thoroughly sick of snow this winter it doesn't know when enough's enough.

NELSKI that sounds promising news re HOLLY. Fingers crossed for Thursday.

It's that day again so the Friday Tidy is on the agenda for today. Such excitement.

My love seat got delivered yesterday and it's still boxed up in the hall. The young chap hoisted it out of the van and carried it up the front steps as if it was weightless! We are going to have to unpack it and take it into the garage piece by piece! We are going to treat it with teak oil before we assemble it. I don't think we will be wanting to sit out in the garden any time soon so there is no rush to do that!!

Have a good day all and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. DUMPLING pleased it was a happy ending for your DD after all but what stupid "friends" to play a trick like that! Take care all xx

    Morning everyone.

Apart from ‘I’m awake’ I have nothing to report! No idea what’s on the plan for today although I’m eyeing up the new exhibition at Kelvingrove Museum. It’s about Charles Rennie MacIntosh to celebrate 150 years since his birth.

I hope everyone has a happy Friday.

Good Morning everyone, and what a damp start to the holiday weekend .I always feel so sorry when the Easter weekend weather is not good, as so many people rely on it being nice to start their season off.

The beach resorts who need to earn a living are always hit hard. I live in Kent, and there are lots of people who look to this time of the year to help their businesses after a long winter.

Not only beach-side places, but hotels and B&Bs as well as Zoos and attractions. Can't see too many folk going to the coast this weekend, forecast is rain, rain and more rain for the next few days.

I am away for a couple of days at a friends place, but we will knit and natter and maybe have a pub meal out, but for the families who maybe are having a short break with their children in a caravan the rain's not very good.

I hope where ever you all are you manage to get a break in the clouds at some point :) or if you can't beat it ,then join it, and take the kids swimming ,at least you can't get any wetter :):) I suppose the cinemas will benefit though :):) I think we are all heartily fed up with this long winter ,what with all the snow and cold winds.

Fingers crossed it will brighten up I know the following week is looking good :) which will be nice as DD and family and I are all off to the Isle of Wight for a week for the last week of the boys holidays.

DGS Ben is going to Paris for a few days with his g/f so we may not see him this holiday but he finishes Uni in May so hopefully he will be home by then.

Whatever you are doing I hope you can enjoy it and fingers crossed it will be a break if nothing else for those of you who are working.

<<hugs>> to those who need one, (and who doesn't need one at some point:))

    Take care chums

    Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to all those in need, good news about Holly.

I'm not sure what we are doing today, my ankle is sore, probably overdid it yesterday.
It's not raining at the moment but looks like it will soon, it's the Devizes to Westminster canoe race this weekend, 600 of them steaming up the Kennet and Avon.
CHS can't decide whether to bash on and try to get through Newbury today or whether to stay put and stay dry!

We may have problems mooring as we get nearer to Reading, a boat hit the lock gate at Padworth and knocked it off its hinges. There was a crane on site yesterday to lift it out the water, but the gate may need repairing before it can be rehung. Even if it's ok there is probably a log jam of boats that have been unable to move for a few days.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good morning everyone :)

    Thank goodness it's Friday.

I was last out of the office last night and first in this morning. I was shattered last night. In bed for 8.30, a new personal record.

Been to the gym this morning and I'm no in work ready to rock and roll. The joys.

Tonight I think I'm going to my mates for a bit, failing that, I'll find something to get up to. I don't think I've turned my TV on this week!

Breakfast for dinner tonight. Sausages, bacon, eggs, tattie scone and beans.

TA - I too am sick of it. Will be glad to get back to the tropical summers of 10 degrees!
    Judi - A belated birthday!

    Morning all
I am now fully functioning and back in the land of reality after our holibobs Cuba was lovely and the hotel we went to was lovely and quiet we just laid in the sun and did a few trips including overnight to Santiago this country is seriously old style everything is reused and repurposed and nothing goes to waste could defiantly teach us all something .
Not sure what we are up to today need to go shopping and also we were thinking of decorating the back bedroom we shall see as we also need to finish replacing the fence in the back garden but that will depend on the weather.
Hugs to all who need them I am still trying to catch up with the thread so sorry if i have missed anything
Have a great day whatever you are up to

    Morning everyone,

Dry at the moment but we are due rain later, no matter as off to meet my lovely nieces for lunch today, looking forward to having a good catch up on all their news.
Other than that not a lot planned, we have salmon en croute for tea, rtc at £1.85 each in W8rose so thought we would have a GF treat.
Pleased to get better news re Holly, fingers crossed the improvement continues.

Have a good day folks x
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Lovely sunny morning again, I turned the heating off for 6 hours yesterday, it was so warm in the bungalow.

Our friends enjoyed their lunch yesterday, they have a long day today, its the last day of the bible club, the children are there from 10am to 2.30ish, they all get to choose a prize.

OH is hoping to do a bit more at the shed, its almost had its first coat, the garden is too wet to get on it, but I plan to sort out the plants in the nursery and maybe clear the back.

So please to hear the news re Holly, I hope she is able to get home next week.

I have two orchids that are putting up flower spikes, the one in the wetroom has flowered all through the winter, the last of the flowers are just about to drop off, so it will need cutting down. One of the two on the sewing room window cill has put up a spike and the tiny one on the sitting room cill is just about to break out, its a miniature orchid, very small leaves and flowers.

Fish and chips tonight, we each had a wiltshire farm meal last night, OH enjoyed his, mine was a bit tasteless.
