I can only achieve a speed of 3m band that is supposed to be good. Just wondering whether upgrading to fibre might help with the speed. Anybody pl explain this to me? If I understand correctly my line can only achieve 2.5 mb

Moving from ADSL to VDSL (also known as FTTC and 'fibre') will allow much faster speeds according to the information you posted, potentially as high as 75Mbps (depending on the product you buy)Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

If the OP can only get 2.5Mb on ADSL, then I'm not sure that VDSL (FTTC) will give that huge an improvement. I get 14Mb on VDSL, against the 2Mb I had on ADSL.0

The predictions that they posted seem to suggest otherwise.
They are probably pretty close to the VDSL cabinet, whereas you were likely a lot further away (1.5 to 2km possibly).
And both you and the OP are probably quite far from the exchange.0 -
Thanks the green cabinet is just opposite my house will that help with the speed?0

Yes, putting some formatting back in shows the OP will have a huge jump in speed.

Ethernet cable directly connected between computer and router. Speed measured using BT Wholesale site and Ookla. Both give similar results.
Given you had the same number, I'd wondered if you might be suffering from the same issue - whatever that is!Stompa0
