I wouldn't trust any battery from Ebay. Especially as that battery is coming from China. No doubt a knock off that could burst into flames at any moment.

I think the genuine ones are most probably made in China.

If you're lucky you might find something viable of freegle/freecycle; it seems like the scammers may have wandered off.

So you'd not trust a genuine Apple or Lenovo battery given they're made in China? No idea why the atttitude towards stuff coming from China given that if you own anything from Apple it was made there.

the battery needs replacing and parts of it have broken off. It's a bit of a mess now. What kind of price would you say is more likely for a similar type of laptop?

If that's keys broken off then a £10 USB keyboard will keep you running

What is general use? Internet and e-mail? If so just check out Ebuyer for the cheapest one's they sell. But as you're probably already aware a cheap laptop will last about a year to two before being stupidly slow.

An SSD would help but will be more than £100 so that idea is out the window.

You'll struggle to get anything decent for the price you want. Unless you look on Gumtree or Ebay.

Yes, general use like internet mainly. Also, using microsoft word etc. Just basic stuff.

If you're happy to use Word Online or Google Docs you can pick up a second hand Acer C720 Chromebook on ebay for around £100.
