CIFAS registration - what effect on Credit Card Applications

I have been told that I will be registered on the CIFAS db and this will last for 13 months. It will effect how future credit applications are processed because they will not be done automatically.

So someone who has been CIFAS and applied for new credit cards what actually extra do they do in terms of the checks?

I assume its the same as what would happen to those who get pending applications for human review. Although possibly an extra set of checks to verify identity.

I called up CIFAS and they said the 13 month cover was the same as their protected registration.

So how long does it take for CIFAS to update the credit reference agencies?

I thought it was 6 years now?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

So I called the bank again and the lady was useful she said I was on category 2 - victim of crime.

The way it works I think is that if someone does another credit application then they will check with CIFAS and it will pop up that the application is DO NOT REJECT -FURTHER VALIDATION so will be handled manually.

This then drops off after 13 months.

I registered myself because it's the best anti-fraud measure there is. I haven't had a problem beyond having to provide extra ID documents. But avoid Metro Bank but doesn't everyone? In the recent thread posts on my difficulty on getting a Metro Bank current account I actually forgot about my protective CIFAS registration. Lloyds Bank, New Day Amazon card, B, Triodos, Virgin Money, Tesco Bank were all approved without a hitch beyond providing extra ID docs.

Some, limited companies will instantly decline a application if a CIFAs flags up.

Yes, suppose to not decline immediately, but some do not manually review and will automatically reject.

What extra ID documents? I only have a passport and old school paper licence.

    Which limited companies?

I was considering setting up a ltd company to start a small business. Will this now be impossible until CIFAS falls off?

I have a feeling this is not a protective registration.

But then why did the lady at Lloyds tell me I am a victim its category 2 registration?

Should I ask Lloyds to confirm this?
