It's not for me, Bob. My cousin is leaving home to move in with her boyfriend and they've asked me to help them find something decent. :o I'm going up at the weekend and have offered to look places over for the basics.

I couldn't find myself a decent landlord last time, Lord knows how I find her one from here! There's a lot of dross in Blackpool :o and she seems to know that she doesn't want North Shore, South Shore or Central but still needs to be near to his work and the train station  on foot!

We have our work cut out!

Blackpool is a decaying dump full of trash...can she not find somewhere better to go? South Shore is crime ridden, Central full of drunks, etc...to be near the station she would be in the middle of Blackpool almost. It's also very depressing in Winter and full of low-pay employment.

I couldn't wait to get away from Blackpool...

I'd re-iterate what Bobproperty says, in that central blackpool isn't the place to go.
Even St Annes is getting a bit down beat now.

The Fylde area is probably the best, Poulton, Carleton and some areas of Thornton.
Poulton has the added factor of having the train station nearby.
There is Over wyre area (Hambleton/Stalmine/Preesall) although you are getting a bit back and beyond out there (I should know I grew up round there!)

We are hopefully soon (when we sell our house!) moving back to the area, but are looking into the area of Poulton/Carleton, these seem to be the best areas.

Thanks for all the advice on areas, unfortunately both families and therefore friends live in Blackpool and I know I said they wanted to avoid, but I think they want to avoid the main areas of each without being out of town, iyswim. I wasn't suggesting it was easy!! :rotfl:

No car, I guess bus fares are just another expense if you're a bit strapped - he works but she's at uni.

Would tend to agree with you. Most of those areas look very nice but are semi-rural, and there's no railway, so without a car I suspect they would be a pain. On that basis Carleton / Poulton would be the best mix of civilisation and transport.
Edited to add: Buy him a bike for Christmas !

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

:rotfl: No doubt they'll be asking for stuff for their new place - watch as I rock up with matching bikes!
