Why don't you indicate?

I call wind up, but just in case I am wrong.
A dual carriageway is what it says on the tin. Two carriageways. Not two lanes.
A carriageway is a contiguous piece of tarmac for driving upon. As soon as there is a permanent central reservation, you have two carriageways, hence dual carriageway (or divided roads as our sometime friends across the pond like to call them).
So you can have a single lane DC, or a multi lane single carriageway...
I didn't know that. You learn something new every day, thanks for the info.0 -

If I was in lane 3 of a dual carriageway, I'd be frantically dodging on-coming traffic...
I agree, I see no harm in indicating left, but I guess the theory is that you overtake and then you return to the nearside lane. Unless someone is overtaking on the inside (which, because everyone abides by the letter of the law, that'd never happen) there's no-one to indicate to.
If you're in the outside lane (of 3 or more) and are moving back left, it's quite possible there is someone in the inside lane about to move out (especially just ahead of you) so indicating so they know not to pull out in front of you could save you an accidentSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

To be fair, "almillar" stated that you need to indicate right to pull away again, even within your own lane.
But the buses don't pull away from the kerb. They're in a bus lane which is a bus's width. There's no-one to indicate to.
It makes sense if they've pulled over and are then indicating to re-join the traffic. But in London they indicate even though their position doesn't change - they just start driving along the bus lane they were already in.
It makes it confusing as you have no idea if they're in fact indicating to pull around an obstruction in the bus lane.
For cyclists and other permitted vehicles using the bus lanes (assuming you can in London, you can where I live), knowing the bus is moving away is helpful as you can start pedalling again or know you don't need to stop and unclip pedals etcSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Erm... I know.
I might be able to dig-out the number of my old driving instructor if you want to tell him.0 -

Just seen this thread and came along to post exactly what you have already posted! Well done, great minds think alike!
I think they should say:
I drive an Audi (exempt)
I drive a BMW (none fitted)Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0
