But how do you hold the struts piston to stop it turning, ok if it's scrap as a pair of stillsons or mole grips will hold it under the top bracket but not when you're fitting the new one.
You don't need to. The impact wrench spins quicker than the piston can. Just put it on and whizz away!0 -

Yes you could with the longer length through the hole and a small diameter pipe or suitable ring spanner on the shorter length.:) Done that many times if the hex. socket head is not reachable with the shorter length.0
