in Techie Stuff
1.5 year old HP Envy running windows 10 (version 1709) 8gb ram AMD quad processor only 300gb out of a 2TB hard drive is used.
all is ok apart from boot up times that appear to have got a lot longer than they used to be.
i can remember being 'good to go' within 30 seconds but now it takes around:
50 seconds to get to the password screen
a further minute after putting in password to get a usable desk top and a further minute to get a response from the google shortcut.
so in brief over 2.5 minutes.
i have check my startup programs and there is only google drive sync, classic menu and windows defender running.
i have run malware bytes and ccleaner - both report no faults.
any ideas please to speed up the startup on this laptop?
many thanks.

SSD is best option for speed increase in this area.
But to get your system closer to how it used to perform (no reason why it shouldnt perform that way)
First , rule out malware and undesired scheduled tasks etc.
