slow laptop boot time

1.5 year old HP Envy running windows 10 (version 1709) 8gb ram AMD quad processor only 300gb out of a 2TB hard drive is used.

all is ok apart from boot up times that appear to have got a lot longer than they used to be.
i can remember being 'good to go' within 30 seconds but now it takes around:
50 seconds to get to the password screen
a further minute after putting in password to get a usable desk top and a further minute to get a response from the google shortcut.
so in brief over 2.5 minutes.
i have check my startup programs and there is only google drive sync, classic menu and windows defender running.
i have run malware bytes and ccleaner - both report no faults.

any ideas please to speed up the startup on this laptop?
many thanks.
