O/S Daily Wednesday 28th March 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Now getting light, damp underfoot although not raining at the moment, but forecast says rain all day, deep joy!

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, fresh pineapple or ice cream for dessert. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost, tonight we will be eating chicken in country sauce, mash and veg.

Yesterday work again was busy, we'll see what today brings, but I'm working all day and have a later finish, but then I'm off until next Tuesday.

Keep safe and well x

Damp underfoot but not raining at the moment, the sunshine seems to have left us for now.

Congrats JackieO, I hope mum and baby are doing well.
RR - I think you have done the right thing.
Good to 'see' you Speky, don't work too hard.

I went to see the film 'Finding your Feet' after work yesterday, really enjoyed it, love to see a British film. Tuesdays are half price and I went with a work friend as the film started at 4.30 so we could go straight from work, it was still light when we came out of the cinema!

    Hope you're ok tru.

Two more days at work before the holiday! Take care. XX

Good morning and thank you for starting us off nmlc.

I'm up and pottering, I don't need to leave before 10. An old friend/former colleague will be driving to former boss's funeral and as it is quite along way have gratefully accepted her offer of a lift. OH can take me to the local station and she will meet me there.

I should like to tell you about last night's dinner, cooked by OH. However I'll just draw a veil over that episode and what you need to know is that I was quite hungry when I went to bed.

Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Sunshine and showers forecast for us today.

Went to DGD's year 4 Easter liturgy in church last night and it was really lovely. The readers did a sterling job, as did those acting parts in the performance and all were word perfect on all the hymns. The teachers have worked very hard with them, all credit to them.

Today I have the pleasure of an x ray and I am keeping my fingers crossed for the result as I can't cope with two of us poorly.

This will be followed by shopping on the wrong day again. Don't need a great deal as we seem to have been out quite a bit with appointments and one thing and another. Then need to pop in to the showroom of the people doing the kitchen. They seem to have misplaced the code for the flooring I chose. I hope I can remember which it was.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Better news re HOLLY but what a shame so many weeks have been wasted before arriving at the current plan. RR glad your doctor has seen sense and signed you off until he at least has your results. As usual so many with problems on here so thinking of you all. Take care xx

    Good morning folks.

Very watery here though (touch wood) the awful predicted weather hasn’t appeared yet.

No real plans for the day except there may be a student popping up on video conference or not. She hasn’t been attending but I need to dial in and be there just in case pigs start to fly.

Great news about Holly, it sounds much more positive.

Snoozer - your posts aren’t invisible! You often help me and I appreciate them. In fact, I was just thinking about you as I’m sure you mentioned a Kenwood food mixer. Think I’ve got the same model and found it difficult to start with, it’s growing on me.

Strangely, I couldn’t get a clean bottom sheet on my bed yesterday. It’s part of a set of bed linen I’ve used many times before and which is used in turn. It came off the bed four weeks ago, was washed and put away. Now it just wouldn’t fit onto the fourth corner, no way would it reach! Weird.

Now I must rise, I wish everyone a very happy Wednesday.

Good morning, it's fine here, but I don't know what the forecast is.
Congratulations Jackie O, on the new arrival - hope Mum and baby are doing well.

Today we are awaiting news, DD went in to hospital last night for induction. She was texting us till about 10 pm, but we have heard nothing this morning. We are anxious as her last baby arrived by emergency c-section, but we can only wait.

Hope everyone is all right, and has a good day.

    Take care folks

Its pouring with rain here and set in for the day I think, I think it may be a drive to the park for Little Madam to have her run around today, I would get soaked on the walk there and back, she is not the kind of dog that would forgo a walk due to the weather !

I have decided that I need to start doing a little bit more each day to try and get my energy levels back up, today I have two washes to wash and dry and I am going to scrub the bathroom, this afternoon I shall have my customary rest / film, tomorrow I may tackle the skirting boards ! I am not sure I can bear the excitement !!

Dinner tonight will be fish and chips from the chip shop I have been really fancing some for a while now and with dd and boyf away it will be cheaper just buying it for two :D

I phoned the insurance company re the kitchen floor yesterday and should be getting a call back today, it looks like the kitchen may have to come out and the floor redone before putting the kitchen back :( it really is the last thing we want to do but It will only get worse and worse !

Right I am going to have some boiled eggs for breakfast.

AOD hope all goes well today xx

TA good luck with the x-ray xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Quick visit today as I am food shopping today to avoid the busy crowds tomorrow, just need some baking ingredients etc really, will get fresh from farm shop on saturday.

Better news about Holly but as TA says shame it couldn’t have been done quicker.
Hope you get some good news soon SR.

Have a good day folks x
  • Good morning everyone,

A quick post from me as I can see today being 'one of those days'.

As planned, I worked a little bit later yesterday and then done very little afterwards.

Tonight, might be much of the same actually. I've defrosted something from the freezer and I'll have that for dinner. I think it's chilli.

    AoD - Hahahah!!
Scarlett - Hope today goes well, keep us posted.

Scarlet Ribbons, I hope everything goes well for your DD.

Gers, thank you, I was a bit hurt when I posted that because I haven't been able to talk about my fears for DD as she doesn't want it generally known yet. No-one who knows me reads OS so I posted here (on two days)but then I got no responses until last night. I know people can't respond to everyone and I forget things when I read the thread as well but I was just feeling a bit raw.
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Very grey and dank here this morning, OH not happy he wanted to finish painting the preservative on the shed.

We have visitors for lunch tomorrow, so want to make a vat of soup and hard boil some eggs for sandwiches.

Fish for supper tonight, its defrosting, OH really likes the cod done with a breadcrumb topping, so will do mash and mixed veg with parsley sauce.
