Morning all

Hi. I have had a read through the newbie posts to try and get to grips with my options, so do please bear with me if I have missed anything as don't want to waste anyone's time.

I received a pcn for parking on residential property, with valid visitors permit, as claimed I was not in a marked bay. Followed the general approach I have seen recommended by others to not acknowledge . Have just now got to the stage of letter from solicitors(Qdr. Previous letters came from zzps, if any comments available on these?) This asks for full payment within 14 days. Failure to make payment in full may result in recommending to client that they pass the matter to litigation department. This may mean they will look to obtain a CCJ, with possible impacts then listed.

My question is, up to this point I have made no contact or acknowledgement or appeal/defence. Should this letter trigger me doing something now (original notice was sent in January 2018), or do I wait it out until they escalate any further??

They are lying. They cannot just "obtain a CCJ". To get an actual CCJ you would have to go to court, lose your case and fail to pay what the judge orders within 30 days. This is just another example of the scare tactics used by these charlatans and why Parliament is looking to clip their wings.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Thanks Trisontana. Looking for some additional thoughts on the "what next" from here given time elapsed and escalation that I am sure will follow after the 14 days has elapsed from this latest letter .

Parliament is indeed on the case.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Unfortunately, you followed wrong advice to ignore, but now there's not much you can do just wait and see, you are as TD describes dealing with the lowest form of money skimmers.
Debt collection liars can be ignored, don't ignore real court papers if they arrive though.

Thanks both. So no further action to take unless and until court papers arrive, then is there a defence process I would need to follow? Appears from other posters that worst case of court action is paying original amount of fine plus interest, so seems that is always a better option than any payments being considered now?

    All as said above

ZZPS and QDR are a back street spin off of the once
    credited WRIGHT HASSALL SOLICITORS

No more credited as they work with scammers.

Do check to see whether they were right in saying you parked in the wrong bay or not. Its not unknown for ppc's to lie about a thing like this.

I was parked for about twenty minutes in a non marked space with permit clearly showing.

Any general thoughts, acknoledgibgbis my own final choice, on whether best to ride it out given that court charges in worst cases will not be higher than the increased anlount being asked for currently?

Do the signs say parking ONLY within marked spaces?
