University - Ignoring tickets

Hi there.
After receiving 4 consecutive tickets from F1rst Parking LLP, asking us to fork out due to not having a permit at university, I have decided to seek your advice.
As my cousin is a PhD student at university, he states that's it's 'common knowledge' that you can park within that parking area, and not worry about fines. He was informed that cameras within that area don't work as needed, but despite this, he has received 4 tickets in 4 days. These were all sent via post and were a delivered a few days after being issued. As the vehicle is in my name/ownership, they were sent in my name. I forced my cousin to appeal, which was later rejected.
An email address was left within the appeal section of their website, so I emailed that in hope to find out more.
I received a reply which started with showing all 4 tickets issued to the vehicle along with the following:
--
"All PCN's stand at £40 each and you have 14 days from the date & time the PCN's were issued to pay the reduced balance, after this time the balance of £80 will become due for all PCN's.
To pay these PCN's you can either call 0200-333-1995 or visit paymyparking.net to pay.
Should you provide an incorrect address for service, we may pursue you for any Parking Charge amount that remains unpaid. Should you identify someone, who denies they were the driver, we may pursue you for any Parking Charge amount that remains unpaid.
In the event of non-payment we reserve the right to pass the matter onto our appointed Debt Collection Agency and the cost of recovering these PCN's will be added to the amount outstanding.
Kind regards
Administration Assistant"

My cousin is currently abroad doing conducting some research as part of his PhD, so that's the reason why I'm posting this. Apparently, we have until the 29th of this month to pay the first ticket, as that's 14 days after the first ticket was issued.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks.

Why didn't you appeal as keeper, which has been the advice here for years?
No-one tells the DRIVER to appeal, ho hum.
Email them back and ask for the POPLA codes to lodge the appeals to POPLA, and don't just wallop in something you write yourself.
Please read NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST to learn what you should have done as registered keeper, and post #3 of that thread gives you the POPLA appeal template points.
Don't ask for a link, look at my signature!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for getting back to me.
I noticed this in the third thread of your Newbies post.
"Permit car parks (residential 'own space' appeals, or industrial/employer car parks where the car was permitted):"
I believe I've misunderstood - The car wasn't permitted to be there. Should I still be following this?
Thanks.0 -
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
What's the best way of going about to complain to a local mp? Please let me know as we only have until tomorrow to pay for one of the fines before it doubles in value.

why complain to your MP/
you knew the driver), ie; you had read the signs , understood the consequences , yet chose to put 2 fingers up in the air and not give a damn
so why moan and shout now?0 -

Then I mistook what the other person said. Nobody is moaning or shouting. I'm simply asking if there's any way around this.0 -
please have a look at post #2 above .........
oh and if you are using a phone to browse ... a laptop / PC makes things much easier ...;)

Once again, I have already looked at that post. I had a question which stated if I should still follow a specific part of the thread I was recommended to follow.0 -
Well, no you don't, because it's not a fine and you won't be paying. Forget their artificial deadline bribes, forget 'we need to act by tomorrow'.DontBeABother wrote: »What's the best way of going about to complain to a local mp? No, you don't.
I think you read the wrong post of the NEWBIES thread. Sounds like you read post #2 about defences? I said to read post #3 about POPLA appeals, and do this first if you do NOT have POPLA codes:Email them back and ask for the POPLA codes to lodge the appeals to POPLA, and don't just wallop in something you write yourself.PRIVATE 'PCN'? Perfect thanks. I emailed them last night and they only provided us with one code, and that's the one my cousin appealed for. As the other 3 tickets haven't been appealed for internally, they can't provide us with codes for that.
So what's the best way of appealing the remaining 3 internally?
I'll be looking at your 3rd thread in that post to appeal the first ticket, or should I wait to recieve the remaining codes, and appeal them collectively?
Thanks.0
