Why would it need insulating on the house wall? Presumably that's a double skinned wall? Our bedroom extension only had plasterboard attached the previous external wall and skim, no insulation required on what had previously been an external wall.
In fact the back wall backs onto the kitchen as well so that might not need full insulation?
Unless it's something you should do anyway for building regs?

I've just had a quick measure of several wall widths including the room I'm currently sitting in which was previously part of the garden. The wall thickness in the doorways is 31cm. That has to be just the cavity wall with plasterboard on top, there's not enough for there to be a layer of insulation on the outside of the old external wall. If your room backs onto a cavity wall with your kitchen, I don't think you'll lose 12cm there.

Excellent - thanks for having a look. So as long as it meets building regs we might not have to put insulation on the 2 walls that back onto interior walls.
Good to know - I'll see if the builders agree.
