O/S Daily Monday 26th March 2018



This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Now light, dry underfoot although air feels a bit chilly. Beautiful day yesterday forecast is ok for today but not so good for the rest of the week, rain every day at some point.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he's starting running and will want to go for a run before he showers and has breakfast.

Lunch yesterday was egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash browns, beans and mushrooms, dinner tonight will be smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in creme fraiche sauce with breaded chicken portion for the menfolk.

Back to work today for me, we were busier than expected on Saturday so have no idea as to what today will be like, but the last 2/3 weeks Mondays and Tuesdays have been manic.

Just getting light here - I haven't looked at the weather forecast but I can see some big grey clouds. It is my day off and I just have a little bit of paperwork to do.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Bah you can't trust these bedroom alarm clocks that are supposed to regulate the time themselves! Don't ask!!

Another nice day forecast before the rain (and possibly snow!) comes back so might venture out in the garden again and get a bit more sprucing up done. It used to be a joint effort but these days it's down to me unfortunately and it's getting too much like hard work with my dodgy hips and knees. I have been on the lookout for a JACKIE's type of gardener but all I have come across are landscape gardeners who charge silly money. There are some pots round the back that are not showing any signs of life in them so I think the harsh winter must have killed them off. I'll give them a bit longer to think about it before emptying them out.

Good morning everyone.

Another chilly but bright start, I hope it warms up. Off to work soon.

Yesterday I got out into the back garden for a while. Managed to clear some dead stuff and did a load of pruning. It looks so much tidier now. I like to see plants start to grow.

I also baked a lemon drizzle cake last night, half of it will be taken into work.

Right, it’s time to move myself. I hope everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Monday.

Morning all


It seems extra cold here this morning its probably to go with the hour change, I have an appointment with the nurse this morning at 8.40 and then back there at 11.40 for my blood tests, it seems a bit silly so will ask them to do both things this morning to save me going back. I then have the ridiculous two week wait to see the Dr for the results !!


Not sure about dinner tonight I will go and look in the freezer after this there is plenty in there so we wont starve, I think there is still some cubed beef left from Xmas so I might get that out and do a curry tomorrow night.


General tidy round this morning but the house is fairly clean and tidy, will have a route around and see if I can find any washing this morning.

Morning all,

I ought to be up and prepared for the day but instead I'm lying in bed wondering where to start.

The Blonde One will be dropping Diva in in less than an hour and I doubt if I'll get much done when she's here.

Need to nag Grump into phoning the doctors and booking a 'Well Man' check up whilst he's here to have it. He's got several things wrong with him but never has time to see the doctor when he's away. They keep sending him texts to book an appointment so with my toe up his rear end he might do it.

Need to find my new water rates bill. I know I had it before we went away. The council tax bill came whilst we were away. An increase of £4 a month.

This is the view from my bedroom window and what kept me from getting going this morning. That band of mist across the sea is mesmerising. Just had to share it.

Morning. It's sunny and dry here, but seems cold. Yesterday was a nice day, I got some washing nearly dry.

We moved the caravan from the storage that's closing over to the new one, and it's more convenient in some ways, and we are pleased we got a place there. We are a few hundred pounds lighter, as we had to pay upfront for the year, but it's done. I had been saving for it, as we would have to pay wherever we were.

Nothing much else happened yesterday, a bit of shopping, bit of tidying, that's all really.

We are getting our hair done today, though in Dh's case it's more like getting his scalp done. Dgd is of the opinion that "Grandad needs more hair", said as she was struggling to get slides into what there is.

That's it really - hope Holly has a better day, and everyone else is ok.

You are so lucky GERS. Is the little bit of land fenced off the new garden you have planned?

I had to look at the photo through my tears! I have just been making a cheque out for this season's caravan site fees, as well as last year's electric. I can't see us getting our money's worth out of it this year with Mr TA as he is with all his appts and ops in store. Not to mention childminding! And DD and the girls won't get there there as much either with all the ballet stuff stopping them. x

Sorry I was awol yesterday.

We went into town to Aldi and then picked up DD2 to go for lunch. DGD joined us. Very good meal, the hotel has put a superb conservatory on the back, it makes a great difference. We dropped DD2 home afterwards.

I ended up going to bed when we got home, had not slept well and was very tired....

Off into the bank this morning need to change savings accounts into joint names, also need a quick visit to Wilko's for a few bits.

Decluttering is on going. I have sold the tea service, so need to deliver that later today, just have to find a place for the crystal and thats the bottom cupboards of the dresser emptied, just the shelves to go.

Frittata and salad for supper. The combi micro is back, so the milk for my ceral was done so quickly in it this morning and no milk pan to clean!!.
